Ella Cook
City High graduate and current University of St. Thomas senior Ella Cook extended her hitting streak to 10 with a hit in every game of a three-game sweep of Kansas City in St. Paul.
Cook went 5-for-8 with a home run and six RBI in the three-game series and is hitting .454 with four home runs and 19 RBI during a 10-game hitting streak that coincides with an 11-game winning streak for the Tommies.
In an 8-0 win over Kansas City on Sunday that closed off the weekend sweep Cook went 1-for-3 with an RBI and also pitched a complete-game, three-hit shutout as St. Thomas improved to 31-16 on the season and 12-3 in Summitt League play.
On the season Cook is hitting .354 with 14 doubles, seven home runs, 40 RBI and 22 runs scored and is 12-8 with a 3.19 ERA while striking out 74 in 101 2/3 innings pitched.
Kaia Holtkamp
Solon graduate and current Iowa State junior Kaia Holtkamp helped the Cyclone 4×800 relay team to a runner-up finish at the Drake Relays in Des Moines on Friday.
Holtkamp helped Iowa State post the third-fastest time in program history at 8:40.86 while finishing runner-up to Oregon which won the event in 8:30.12.
Ashley Webb
Regina graduate and current Mount Mercy sophomore pitcher Ashley Webb tossed five hitless innings while picking up a pair of saves in a doubleheader sweep of Culver-Stockton on Saturday in Canton, Missouri.
Webb struck out two in three hitless innings in a 5-1 win in the opener and worked two hitless innings while striking out one in a 2-0 win in the nightcap as Mount Mercy improved to 26-21 on the season and 15-9 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
On the season Webb is 7-10 with five saves and a 3.50 ERA in a team-high 104 innings pitched.
