The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts.
Cade Obermueller
Former City High standout and current University of Iowa junior Cade Obermueller was named Big 10 pitcher of the week on Monday.
Obermueller threw a seven-inning complete game on Friday in a 12-1 win over Northwestern.
The junior left hander allowed one hit, one walk and an unearned run in the win while striking out a career-high 12.
On the season Obermueller is 3-2 with a 2.51 ERA and was struck out 65 while allowing just 35 hits in 46 2/3 innings.
Sarah Heick
Solon graduate and current Mount Mercy University senior Sarah Heick continued a strong season with six hits over the weekend as the Mustangs went 2-2 in a pair of Heart of American Athletic Conference doubleheaders.
Heick had four hits in a Saturday doubleheader at Grand View and added one hit in each game of a doubleheader sweep of Graceland on Sunday as Mount Mercy improved to 17-19 on the season and 7-7 in conference play.
On the season Heick ranks second on the team with a .374 batting average, 25 runs scored, 17 RBI and seven doubles.
Mischa Reiners
Liberty High graduate and current Kirkwood Community College freshman Mischa Reiners had three hits and scored four runs to help the Eagles to a pair of doubleheader sweeps over the weekend.
Reiners helped Kirkwood post doubleheader sweeps of Iowa Lakes Community College on Saturday and North Iowa Area Community College on Sunday as the Eagles improved to 30-10 on the season.
On the year Reiners is hitting .369 with 40 runs scored, 16 extra-base hits and 30 RBI.
Reiners has nine doubles and five home runs and has walked a team-high 22 times while posting a .460 OBP and .471 slugging percentage in her first season.
