Your Prep Sports 

A pair of Your Prep Sports area teams appeared in the first girls soccer rankings of the season released on Wednesday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Liberty High and West High both landed in the first Class 3A rankings of the season with Liberty High opening the season at No. 10 and West High coming in at No. 12.

The Lightning went 13-5 last season and made the first state tournament appearance in program history advancing to the Class 2A state tournament.

West High was 11-5 last season.

Top-ranked teams in the first rankings of the season are Ankeny in Class 3A, Waverly-Shell Rock in Class 2A and Denver in Class 1A.
