The 2024-2025 basketball season was filled with success for teams in the Your Prep Sports area.
Four teams in the Your Prep Sports area won 15 or more games this season, Clear Creek Amana and Regina each won conference titles and Solon advanced to a Class 3A substate final.
The Your Prep Sports all-area boys basketball team recognizes some of the top players in the area that helped their teams achieve that success this season.
The ninth edition of the Your Prep Sports all-area team features all-conference and all-state honorees, school record holders and college recruits.
The 10-member 2025 Your Prep Sports all-area team features players from seven different schools and is highlighted by a pair of repeat selections in West High senior Jack McCaffery and Clear Creek Amana senior Andrew Rotzoll.
A three-time member of the Your Prep Sports all area team, McCaffery is the captain of the 2025 Your Prep Sports all-area team after ranking fourth in Class 4A in scoring while helping West High to a 15-8 record.

6-8, Sr., West High
Among the top players in the state McCaffery put the finishing touches on a brilliant prep career with a stellar senior season in which he ranked fourth in Class 4A in scoring.
McCaffery earned first-team all-state honors from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association and was a unanimous first team all-Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division selection after averaging a career-high 21.2 points per game while helping West High to a 15-8 record.
A Butler recruit, McCaffery was one of only 10 players in the state this season to average at least 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game putting up 21.2 points, 7.3 assists and 3.3 assists per contest.
McCaffery scored in double figures in all 23 games this season and had 20 or more points 11 times including a career-high 40 in a win over Burlington.
The 6-foot-8 forward had six double-doubles and also averaged 1.3 blocked shots and .9 steals per game.
McCaffery shot 45 percent from the floor, including 30 percent from 3-point range and shot 82 percent from the free throw line while ranking in the top eight in Class 4A in both free throws made (98) and attempted (120).
A four-year starter, McCaffery closed his career with 1,436 points, 599 rebounds, 255 assists and 181 blocked shots.
Andrew Rotzoll
6-3, Sr., Clear Creek Amana
A stalwart in the Clear Creek Amana lineup the past three seasons Rotzoll had his best season as a senior while helping the Clippers to a 19-5 record and the first overall WAMAC Conference title in program history.
Rotzoll led the Clippers in scoring for the second year in a row and averaged career highs in rebounds, assists and steals on his way to being named WAMAC West Division player of the year and third team all-state by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 16.2 points while shooting a career-best 48 percent from the field including 44 percent from beyond the 3-point line.
Rotzoll scored in double figures in 19 of 23 games and had 20 or more points six times including a career-high 32 in a win over Benton Community.
The senior guard scored in double figures in 16 of the final 17 games helping Clear Creek Amana go 15-2 over that span.
Rotzoll also averaged 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game helping the Clippers to its second highest win total in the last 20 seasons.
A career 43 percent 3-point shooter, Rotzoll made 174 3-pointers over the past three seasons making at least 55 triples each of the past three seasons.
Rotzoll finished his career with 1,010 points.
Will Litton
6-4, Soph., Regina
After coming off the bench last season as a freshman Litton emerged as one of the top young players in Class 2A as a sophomore with a breakthrough season in which he led Regina in scoring and rebounding.
Litton more than doubled his scoring and rebounding numbers from an impressive debut season averaging 16.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game this season on his way to earning River Valley Conference South Division player of the year and second-team all-state honors from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
The 6-foot-4 forward was as efficient and consistent as he was productive this season.
Litton scored in double figures in 22 of 23 games this season and had 10 double-doubles while helping Regina to a 19-4 record and an RVC South Division title.
A unanimous RVC South Division first team selection, Litton shot 60 percent from the floor, including 45 percent (14-31) from 3-point range and 71 percent from the free throw line.
Litton also averaged 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and .9 blocked shots per game, all career-bests.
Jerimiah Washpun
5-11, Soph., Liberty High
One of the top young guards in the state Washpun took his game to another level during a breakthrough sophomore season in which he ranked ninth in Class 4A in scoring.
Washpun emerged as one of the top playmaking guards in the state this season averaging 19 points and 2.8 assists per game and was one of only two underclassmen to rank in the top 10 in Class 4A in scoring.
A second team all-Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division pick, Washpun scored in double figures in all 23 games this season and scored 20 or more points nine times.
Washpun wasn’t just productive he was efficient, shooting 47 percent from the floor and 63 percent from the free throw line while leading the Lightning in free throw makes (49) and attempts (78).
The 5-foot-11 point guard averaged 4.3 rebounds and .9 steals per game this season.
Jaxton Schroeder
6-5, Sr., City High
The addition of Schroeder as a pivotal post presence was an important part of City High putting together its first double-digit win season since 2016.
Schroeder earned second team all-Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division honors after ranking second on the team in scoring and leading City High in rebounding in his first season in the Little Hawk lineup.
The 6-foot-5 Schroeder averaged 13.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game while shooting better than 60 percent from the field as City High finished 10-14.
Schroeder scored in double figures in 12 of the 17 games he played in this season posting a team-high nine double-doubles.
A Kirkwood baseball recruit, Schroeder shot 61 percent from the floor and 57 percent from the free throw line and also averaged .9 steals per game.
Schroeder scored in double figures in eight of the final games of the season averaging 14.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game during that stretch.
Jayden Harris
5-11, Jr., West Branch
A starter last season as a sophomore, Harris raised his level of play and production to an entirely new level this season in his first year as the go-to player for the Bears.
Harris averaged a team-high 18.8 points per game while shooting 50 percent from the floor while helping West Branch to an 11-13 record.
A unanimous first team all-River Valley Conference South Division selection, Harris emerged as one of the most explosive scorers in the conference this season.
Harris scored in double figures in 20 of 24 games this season and scored 20 or more points 13 times including a career-high 34 points in a win over Durant.
The 5-foot-11 point guard scored 20 or more points in 13 of the final 20 games and averaged 20.6 points per game during that span.
Harris shot 39 percent from 3-point range (61-of-155) and also averaged 2.5 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.
Caleb Bock
6-1, Sr., Solon
After injuries shortened his junior season Bock emerged as one of the top playmakers in Class 3A as a senior leading Solon in scoring, rebounding and assists while helping the Spartans to an 18-6 record and a spot in Class 3A substate title game.
Bock averaged career highs of 14.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game on his way to being a unanimous first team all-WAMAC East Division selection.
The 6-foot-1 guard scored in double figures in 17 of 22 games this season and had four double-doubles helping Solon win at least 18 games for the third consecutive season.
Bock shot 58 percent from the floor, including 36 percent (10-28) from 3-point range, and 56 percent from the free throw line.
Bock scored in double figures in seven consecutive games leading up to the substate title game, averaging 19.9 points per game during that span including a 28-point, 11-rebound double-double in a substate semifinal win.
Christopher Watkins
6-5, Jr., City High
In his first season in the City High lineup Watkins made an immediate impact leading the Little Hawks in scoring and ranking second on the team in rebounding.
Watkins averaged 14.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game during his breakthrough debut season on his way to earning Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division honorable mention honors.
The 6-foot-5 proved to be a versatile and efficient scorer for the Little Hawks shooting 56 percent from the floor, including 36 percent (16-45) from 3-point range, and 65 percent from the free throw line.
Watkins scored in double figures in 15 of 24 games this season and had six double-doubles including a 32-point, 15-rebound effort in a win over Liberty High.
The more he played the better Watkins performed.
Watkins scored in double figures in eight of the final 10 games of the season averaging 18.7 points and eight rebounds per game during that stretch helping City High go 7-3 in its final 10 games,
Julian Manson
6-3, Jr., West High
A three-year starter, Manson took a big step forward this season averaging career-highs in points, rebounds and steals while helping West High to a 15-8 record.
Manson averaged 12.3 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game on his way to earning Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division first team honors.
One of the most efficient offensive players in Class 4A this season, Manson ranked 11th in 4A in field goal percentage, shooting 62 percent from the field.
Manson scored in double figures 13 times this season, including six consecutive games to close the season, and had four double-doubles.
The 6-foot-3 forward also averaged 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
Hayden Umoren
6-6, Sr., Clear Creek Amana
The emergence of Umoren as a versatile weapon on both ends of the court was an important component in one of the most successful seasons in recent Clear Creek Amana program history.
Umoren ranked second on the team in scoring and rebounding and led the team in assists while helping the Clippers to a 19-5 record and the first overall WAMAC title in program history.
A unanimous first team all-WAMAC West Division selection, Umoren did it all for the Clippers this season averaging 11.8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
Umoren was among the most efficient offensive players in Class 4A shooting 63 percent from the floor and 63 percent from the free throw line.
The 6-foot-6 guard scored in double figures in the final 14 games of the season and had three games with 20 or more points during that stretch helping Clear Creek Amana go 12-2 over that span.
