Following the best season of his prep career West High senior Jack McCaffery picked up one of the biggest accolades of his career.
McCaffery was named first-team all-state by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association when the organization announced its postseason awards on Tuesday.
A four-year starter and two-time all-state pick McCaffery headlined a list of three Your Prep Sports area players to earn all-state honors from the IPSWA.
Clear Creek Amana senior Andrew Rotzoll and Regina sophomore Will Litton were all-state picks for the first time.
McCaffery averaged a career-high 21.2 points while shooting 45 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line on his way to being named to the Class 4A first team for the first time in his career.
The 6-foot-8 McCaffery averaged 7.3 points, 3.3 assists and 1.3 rebounds per game while helping West High to a 15-8 record.
A Butler recruit, McCaffery was a second-team Class 4A all-state pick last season and finished his career with 1,436 points and 599 rebounds.
Rotzoll was named to the Class 3A third-team after leading Clear Creek Amana in scoring while helping the Clippers to a 19-5 record and the first overall WAMAC Conference title in program history.
The 6-foot-2 senior guard averaged 16.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
Rotzoll shot 48 percent from the floor including 44 percent from 3-point range while leading the Clippers with 60 made 3-pointers.
