The postseason sprint is here in wrestling.

It starts with district meets across all three classes on Saturday with the state meet set to run February 19-22 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Before the action gets rolling on Saturday Your Prep Sports takes a look at every district meet featuring an area team.

Here is a look at the three Class 2A district that feature teams from the Your Prep Sports area.

Class 2A, District 12

When: Saturday, 10 a.m.

Where: Williamsburg High School

Teams: Solon; Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont; Knoxville; Mediapolis; Mid-Prairie; Mount Pleasant; Washington; Williamsburg

Ranked teams: No. 3 Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont

What to watch: Solon had four state qualifiers last season and will look to surpass that number with a strong showing on Saturday.

All four state qualifiers from last season return for Solon this year led by returning state medalist Jordan Schmidt and third-ranked sophomore Lucas Feuerbach.

Lucas Feuerbach (40-3) is ranked third at 215 pounds and Schmidt (22-13) is ranked 10^th at 144 pounds.

Seniors Jackson Feuerbach (34-14) and Charlie Karam (34-16) are also seeking returns to the state tournament this season after qualifying a year ago.

Six Spartans finished third at the state qualifier a year ago as Solon narrowly missed adding to its state qualifier list.

Five of those third-place finishers from last season will be seeking top-two finishes and a trip to state on Saturday.

Evan Burg (12-15) at 150, Jayden Steapp (29-13) at 120, Carson Kidwell (37-11) at 157, Kyler Jensen (27-17) at 190 and Teague Willims at 165 all finished third at the state qualifier last season.

Toss in freshman 106-pounder Anderson Osgood (28-15) and senior 285-pounder Grant Wilson (36-9) and the Spartans have a strong list of state tournament contenders.

Who to watch: After reaching the state tournament last season as a freshman Lucas Feuerbach has his sites set on a spot atop the 215-pound podium next week in Des Moines.

Feuerbach (40-3) is ranked third at 215 pounds and has been impressive this season with two of his losses coming to top-10 ranked 3A wrestlers.

The sophomore enters the district meet with a 17-match winning streak that includes 11 wins by fall.

No. 11 Carson Grier of Williamsburg joins Feuerbach as ranked wrestlers in the 215-pound bracket on Saturday.

Feuerbach won a 7-1 decision over Grier in the semifinals of the WAMAC tournament last week.

Weight class to watch: The 157-pound bracket at District 12 could be one of the most wide open and entertaining fields of the tournament.

Solon junior Carson Kidwell (37-11) is seeking his first state tournament trip and should be in the mix for the 157-pound title.

Kidwell has been among the most improved wrestlers in the Spartan lineup this season going from 31-23 a year ago as a sophomore to 37-11 this season.

Part of that 31-23 record from last season was a third-place district finish.

Kidwell will attempt to reverse that district disappointment from last season and a spot at state could come down to a third meeting with WAMAC rival Brady Grier of Williamsburg.

Kidwell defeated Grier (31-12) 14-13 in a dual on December 12 and the Williamsburg freshman returned the favor with a late pin of Kidwell in the semifinals of the WAMAC tournament earlier this month.

Tristan Sinnard (26-11) of Knoxville and Peyton Johnson (28-5) of Mediapolis could be in the mix at 157-pound.
