Solon Senior Running Back Johnson Commits to Quincy University

One of the state’s most productive ball carriers has made a decision on his football future.
Solon senior running back Eddie Johnson announced his commitment to Division II Quincy University with a post on social media.
“I am excited to announce my academic and athletic commitment to Quincy University,” Johnson wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to all of my coaches who have taught me the game of football over the years. I am excited to get started.”
Johnson emerged as one of the most productive backs in the state during a breakthrough senior season last fall.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound two-way standout ranked seventh in Class 3A in rushing yards and fourth in rushing touchdowns while helping Solon to an 8-3 record and a spot in the 3A quarterfinals.
Johnson rushed for 1,257 yards and 18 touchdowns on his way to earning first-team Class 3A all-state honors.
Johnson had eight 100-yard rushing performances last season, scored a touchdown in 10 of 11 games and had six games with multiple touchdowns.
He also caught 20 passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns.
As a defensive end Johnson made 22.5 tackles and led Solon in both sacks (4.5) and tackles for loss (10).
In his two-year varsity career Johnson rushed for 1,635 tards and 24 touchdowns and caught 36 passes for 563 yards and six touchdowns.
Quincy University is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Quincy University and went 6-4 last season.
