The 2024 volleyball season was a memorable one in the Your Prep Sports area.
Clear Creek Amana returned to the state tournament for the third consecutive season while Regina made its first appearance at the state tournament since 2017.
City High, West High and Liberty High all advanced to regional title games while Solon finished with 28 wins.
The annual Your Prep Sports area volleyball team is a way to honor some of those players for their outstanding work on the court this fall.
The 2024 edition of the Your Prep Sports all-area team features all-state and all-conference players, a conference player of the year, state tournament participants, school record holders and college recruits.
This year’s 12 member team features players from all seven area teams including four from state qualifiers Clear Creek Amana and Regina.
Regina junior Reese Naeve is the captain of the 2024 Your Prep Sports all-area team after leading the state in kills and directing the Regals to the Class 2A state quarterfinals.
An Iowa State commit, Naeve is appearing on the Your Prep Sports all-area team for the third consecutive season and is one eight repeat selections from last year’s team.

Reese Naeve (Captain)
Junior, Regina
Among the most productive hitters in the state over her first two seasons Naeve took her game and her production to a different level this fall while leading Regina to the state tournament for the first time since 2017.
Naeve led the state with 753 kills, 63 more than any other player, and 7.5 kills per set while helping Regina to a 24-15 record and a spot in the Class 2A state tournament.
An Iowa State recruit, Naeve became the first Iowa prep with 700 kills in a season since Mikaela Foecke of Fort Madison Holy Trinity had 812 kills in 2014.
Naeve racked up her career-best 753 kills on .320 hitting and also added 343 digs, 34 ace serves and 17 blocks on her way to earning second-team Class 2A all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
A first-team all-River Valley Conference South Division selection, Naeve averaged 8.4 kills per set in four postseason matches including a 39-kill performance on .479 hitting in a four-set regional title win over Pella Christian.
Naeve has raised her kill total each of her first three seasons amassing 1,795 career kills and 1,043 career digs.
Asta Hildebrand
Senior, Liberty High
Among the most uniquely skilled and versatile players in the state Hildebrand filled the stat sheet like few other players in the state during her impressive four-year career.
A three-time all-state player, Hildebrand was at her best as a senior when she led the Lightning in kills for the second consecutive season and ranked second on the team in both assists and digs.
Hildebrand hammered a team-high 299 kills this season while hitting a career-best .247 to go with 291 assists and 258 digs.
A St. Cloud State recruit, Hildebrand also added a career-high 46 blocks and 23 ace serves on her way to earning second-team Class 5A all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association for the second consecutive season.
Hildebrand was a unanimous Mississippi Valley Conference all-Mississippi Division pick this season after helping the Lightning to a 15-21 record, a top-15 ranking in Class 5A and a spot in the 5A regional title game.
A four-year starter and three-time Your Prep Sports all-area selection Hildebrand finished her career with 1,975 assists, 1,004 digs, 882 kills, 121 blocks and 95 ace serves.
Averie Lower
Junior, Clear Creek Amana
Already considered among the top players in Class 4A Lower put together the best season of her career while helping the Clippers return to the state tournament for the third consecutive season.
In her first season as the Clippers’ unquestioned go-to hitter Lower ranked third in Class 4A and 17th in the state with 410 kills on a career-best .246 hitting efficiency.
Lower showed her versatility this season leading Clear Creek Amana with 334 digs on her way to earning first-team Class 4A all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
A unanimous first team all-WAMAC West Division pick, Lower added 34 ace serves and 32 blocks while helping the Clippers to a 37-8 record and spot in the 4A state quarterfinals.
This was the third consecutive season with at least 220 kills, 300 digs and 30 blocks for the 6-foot Lower who is also an all-state basketball player.
In three varsity seasons Lower has amassed 914 kills, 983 digs and 129 blocks while helping Clear Creek Amana to a 117-20 record during that span.
Sophia Austen
Sophomore, West High
One of the biggest breakthrough players in Class 5A this season Austen made the move into the state’s elite this season with a standout sophomore campaign.
The 6-foot-1 Austen was a unanimous 1st team all-Mississippi Division selection this season after improving in every major statistical category from a year ago.
Austen was solid last season as a freshman but took her game to another level this fall while leading West High in kills and ranking second in the team in hitting efficiency, digs and blocks.
An impressive athlete, Austen led the Trojans with 306 kills on .223 hitting and ranked second on the team with 235 digs and 30 blocks.
Austen also added 30 ace serves this season while helping West High go from nine wins last season to 13 wins this fall.
Edie Miller
Sophomore, Liberty High
After an impressive debut season a year ago Miller built on her reputation as one of the top back row players in the state with a stellar sophomore season in which she led Class 5A in digs for a second consecutive season.
Miller earned first-team all-division honors from the Mississippi Valley Conference and third-team Class 5A all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches association for the second straight season after leading 5A with 550 digs and 6.1 digs per set.
The 5-foot-6 Miller increased her production from a season ago when she led 5A with 5.4 digs per set.
This season Miller also had a team-high 32 ace serves while helping Liberty High to a 15-21 record, a top-15 ranking and a spot in a 5A regional title game.
In two varsity seasons Miller has racked up 1,153 career digs and 54 ace serves.
Grace Erwin
Senior, Solon
A force on both sides of the net for Solon each of the past three seasons Erwin concluded a brilliant career with her best season yet.
The 5-foot-11 Erwin led Solon in kills and ranked seventh in Class 3A in blocks while earning all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association for the second year in a row.
Erwin had a team-high 204 kills and added 93 blocks and a career-high 24 ace serves on her way to being named third-team Class 3A all-state.
A three-time first-team all-WAMAC West Division pick, Erwin posted her third consecutive season with at least 185 kills and 90 blocks.
One of the most efficient hitters in the state, Erwin led Solon in hitting efficiency for the third consecutive season and ranked third in 3A and ninth in the state hitting .437.
Erwin was the only player in the state this season with over 200 kills, a hitting efficiency over .400 and at least 90 blocks.
Emmy McComas
Senior, City High
A stalwart in the City High lineup since her freshman season McComas concluded a stellar career with a strong senior season in which she led the Little Hawks in digs and ace serves.
Few players filled the stat sheet as consistently as McComas over the past four seasons.
The 6-foot, McComas posted her fourth consecutive season with at least 188 kills and 216 digs this fall while helping City High to a 17-13 record.
In her four seasons in the City High lineup McComas helped the Little Haws to four consecutive winning seasons and three regional title games.
McComas led City High in digs in each of her four varsity seasons, including this fall when she had a team-high 216 digs to go with a team-leading 30 ace serves.
A Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division second team selection, McComas had 118 kills and added 14 blocks this season.
McComas finished her career with 854 kills, 1,049 digs and 103 ace serves.
Madelynn Falco
Senior, West Branch
Last season Falco emerged as one of the top backrow players in Class 2A with a breakthrough junior season highlighted by strong postseason performances.
Falco followed up her stellar junior season with an even better senior season this fall.
A three-year starter for the Bears Falco was at her best this season collecting a career-high 459 digs and matching her career-high with 27 ace serves.
The 459 digs for Falco ranked fifth in Class 2A and her 6.0 digs per set were the third best among 2A players.
A second team all-River Valley Conference South Division pick this season, Falco closed her career with 1,208 digs.
Hadley Miller
Sophomore, Liberty High
The latest in a growing list of stellar Liberty High setters Miller posted a second consecutive stellar season in her second season leading the Liberty High attack.
Miller ranked in the top four on the team in assists, kills, digs and ace serves while helping the Lightning to a 15-21 record and a spot in a Class 5A regional title game.
The 5-foot-6 Miller earned second-team Mississippi Valley Conference all-Mississippi Division honors after handing out a team-high 364 assists to go with a career-high 95 kills and 199 digs.
Miller led the Lightning with 31 ace serves and added seven blocks this season.
During her first two varsity seasons Miller has emerged as a versatile threat across the court racking up 879 assists, 187 kills 463 digs, 66 ace serves and 24 blocks.
Addison Bollier
Sophomore, Regina
After making an immediate impact in the varsity lineup last season as a freshman Bollier established herself as one of the most impactful back row players in the state this fall while helping Regina reach the state tournament for the first time in seven seasons.
Bollier ranked second in the state with 683 digs this season from her libero spot and her 6.8 digs per set ranked fourth in the state.
The 5-foot-5 Bollier added a career-high 37 ace serves this season on her way to being named to the River Valley Conference South Division first team.
Bollier has already eclipsed the 1,000-dig mark for her career racking up 1,063 digs in her first two seasons.
Emily Henderson
Junior, Clear Creek Amana
Clear Creek Amana lost four players that started every match from its state semifinal squad in 2023 including three of its top four hitters.
Among the biggest reasons the Clippers were able to win 37 matches and return to the state tournament for a third consecutive season despite the graduation of those four starters was the emergence of Henderson as one of the state’s best setters.
Henderson ranked fourth in Class 5A and 16th in the state with 928 assists in a breakthrough junior season in which she was named WAMAC West Division player of the year and earned all-state honors for the first time.
The 5-foot-8 Henderson was exceptional while directing Clear Creek Amana to a 37-8 record and a spot in the 4A quarterfinals.
Henderson led the Clippers with 44 ace serves and added 302 digs, 96 kills and 48 blocks on her way to earning third-team Class 4A all-state honors from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
Hattie Galloway
Sophomore, City High
After a strong debut season last fall as a freshman Galloway bumped things up a notch this fall while emerging as one of the top underclassmen in Class 5A.
Galloway ranked second on the team in kills and led the Little Hawks in blocks for the second consecutive season on her way to being named to the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division second team.
The 6-foot Galloway posted 128 kills on .270 hitting and 58 blocks as a freshman in 2023.
Galloway improved in all of those categories this fall as she ranked second on the team with 190 kills on a career-best .342 hitting to go with a team-high 65 blocks.
Galloway also added 35 digs and 15 ace serves this season while helping City High to a 17-13 record and a spot in a Class 5A regional final.
