MARSHALLTOWN – A brilliant prep swimming career for Grace Hoeper got a fantastic finish on Saturday.

Hoeper won state titles in both the 50 and 100 freestyle for the second consecutive season on Saturday at the state swimming meet at the Marshalltown YMCA.

The two titles on Saturday gave Hoeper, a senior at Solon who swims for City High, five individual titles for her career and helped City High to a top-10 team finish.

Hoeper won the 50 freestyle title for the third straight season winning the title in a time of 23.06.

An Indiana signee, Hoeper successful defender her 100 freestyle title, winning the title by more than a second in a time of 49.94.

Hoeper also helped the City High 200 freestyle relay team to a sixth-place finish in 1:38.3 and was a member of the Little Hawks 400 meter relay team that finished ninth.

West High got a runner-up finish from senior Kamila Swanson in the 1-meter diving competition on its way to an eighth-place team finish with 89 points.

West Des Moines Dowling won the team title with 260 points followed by Waukee Northwest with 243 and Cedar Falls with 220.

City High was ninth with 88 points.

Swanson improved on her third-place finish in the division competition from last season with a runner-up finish with final score of 486.9.

Sophomore Hannah Geng posted a pair of top-eight finishes for West High placing fifth in the 100 freestyle in 52.82 and seventh in the 200 freestyle in 1:54.77.

The City High 200 freestyle relay team of Hoeper, Elsa Farber, Louisa Berry-Stoelzle and Saoirse Miller finished sixth in 1:38.3.

The Little Hawk foursome of Berry-Stoelzle, Farber, Celeste Miller and Hoeper was ninth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:40.03.

The West High team of Geng, Isabella Friessen, Maggie Nguyen and Averie Bilskemper finished seventh in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:37.03.
