FORT DODGE – Led by a top-25 finish from junior Abigail Burns City High placed eighth at the Class 4A state cross country meet on Friday at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

Burns finished 24^th in a time of 18:51.1 to lead three Little Hawks that finished in the top 35 as City High closed with 198 points.

Pleasant Valley won the team title with 63 points followed by Johnston with 88 and Dubuque Senior with 133.

Sophomore Grace Hamann finished 29^th in 18:55.6 for City High while freshman Eliza Doster placed 35^th in 19:10.3.

Senior Nina Peterson finished 57^th in 19:32.5 and senior Nicole Peterson was 67^th in 19:46.2.

West High junior Kate Van Waning finished 87^th in 20:11.2 while sophomore Susana Olson was 94^th in 20:20.1.

Liberty High sophomore Chelsea VeDepo placed 56^th in 19:31.6 and senior Mimi Marquardt placed 93^rd in 20:19.1.
