Liberty High Puts Six Players on Mississippi Valley Conference All-Division Team

Liberty High had six players earn all-division honors when the Mississippi Valley Conference released its postseason awards on Wednesday.
The six all-division selections for the Lightning including a pair of unanimous first-team picks in senior Asta Hildebrand sophomore libero Edie Miller and highlighted the area selections that included five City High players and three West High players.
Hildebrand and Miller each were unanimous first-team picks after helping Liberty High to a 15-21 record and a spot in a Class 5A regional title game.
Miller had a team-high 550 digs and also led the Lightning with 32 ace serves on her way to earning unanimous first-team honors in the Mississippi Division.
Hildebrand was a unanimous first-team Mississippi Division pick after leading the Lightning with 299 kills and ranking second on the team with 258 digs and 291 assists.
The 6-foot Hildebrand also had 46 blocks and 23 ace serves.
Sophomores Hadley Miller and Sydney Van Heukelom were each second-team Mississippi Division picks for Liberty High.
Hadley Miller led the Lightning with 364 assists and added 95 kills, 199 digs and 31 ace serves.
Van Heukelom led Liberty High with 62 blocks and had 92 kills and 22 ace serves.
Juniors Lucy Maassen and Ashlyn Nordell each earned honorable mentions honors for Liberty High.
West High sophomore Sophia Austen was a unanimous first-team pick in the Mississippi Division after leading the Trojans with 306 kills on .223 hitting while ranking second on the team in blocks (30) and digs (235) and third in ace serves (300.
Sophomore Lila Eastvold and freshman Audrey Small each earned honorable mention status for West High.
City High had five players earn all-division honors in the Valley Division.
Sophomores Hattie Galloway and Kaitlin Loria and senior Emmy McComas were all named to the Valley Division second team after helping the Little Hawks to a 17-13 record and a spot in a 5A regional final.
Loria led the Little Hawks with 195 kills on .212 hitting while adding 28 ace serves and 25 blocks.
Galloway ranked second on the team with 190 kills and led the Little Hawks with 65 blocks.
McComas ranked third on the team with 188 kills and led the Little Hawks in digs (216) and ace serves (30).
Senior Georgia Sieben and freshman Hazel Schluckebier each earned honorable mentions honors in the Valley Division.
