Solon capped the regular season in emphatic fashion on Friday rolling to a 54-6 win over South Tama in a Class 3A, District 5 contest in Tama.

The win was the second straight for Solon and improved the Spartans to 7-2 on the season.

Solon earned a spot in the Class 3A postseason and will learn its playoff path on Saturday at 10 a.m. when the Iowa High School Athletic Union releases postseason pairings.

The Spartans cruised in their final tune up of the regular season on Friday.

Solon led 33-0 at the half and rolled up 24 first downs and 374 yards of total offense in the win.

Eddie Johnson rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

Senior quarterback Ty Bell passed for 116 yards and three touchdowns tossing scoring strikes to senior Owen Einwalter and Eli Kampman.

Kampman had a 38-yard touchdown catch and Einwalter had touchdown grabs of five and one yards.

Maddox Kelley had four receptions for 49 yards and Charlie Karam caught four passes for 31 yards for the Spartans.

Tripp Johnson had a team-leading seven tackles for loss while Eddie Johnson had 2.5 tackles for loss.

Brady White rushed for a pair of touchdowns and had a sack for Solon.

South Tama closed the season 0-9.
