A pair of West High runners earned spots at the state cross country meet with top-20 finishes at the Class 4A state qualifying meet on Wednesday.

Junior Kate Van Waning and sophomore Susanna Olson each secured state meet spots on Wednesday at the 4A state qualifier held at the Southeast Polk Cross Country Course.

Van Waning finished ninth in a time of 19:39.5 to earn a spot at the 4A state meet while Olson finished 20^th in a time of 20:35.8 to earn her spot at state.

Defending 4A state champion Johnston won the team title with 19 points followed by Ankeny with 54 and Des Moines Roosevelt with 105.

Indianola was fourth with 108 points and West High was fifth with 131.

Kalli Titus finished 23^rd in a time of 21:05.6 for West High while Mia Ahn was 35^th in 22:13.6 and Sadie Abbas was 44^th in 23:11.4.
