Solon got back on track in a big way on Friday night.

Eddie Johnson rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns and also caught one of four touchdown passes by Ty Bell as Solon stopped a two-game losing skid with a 61-19 win over Fairfield in a Class 3A, District 5 contest at Spartan Stadium.

Solon improved to 6-2 on the season and 2-2 in District 5 play while Fairfield dropped to 2-6 and 1-3 in district games.

Johnson scored on touchdown runs of 2 and 95 yards and caught a 64-yard touchdown pass as Solon put up a season-high in points.

Bell threw for 177 yards and four touchdowns, all in the first half, as the Spartans raced to a 48-0 halftime lead.

Bell had touchdown passes to Johnson, Beau Mullen, Karsyn Regennitter and Maddox Kelley in the opening 24 minutes.

The senior quarterback completed 8-of-12 passes and also ran for 17 yardsd.

Kelley caught four passes for 78 yards to lead the Spartans and Kaden Hoeper had two receptions for 20 yards as 10 different Solon players caught a pass.

Johnson, Oliver Owens, Abe Houtakker and Cody Milliman all had sacks and Regennitter had an interception to lead the Solon defensive effort.

Solon travels to South Tama (0-8) next Friday for it’s regular season finale.
