Player to watch: Linn-Mar senior running back Dylan Muszynski (5-9, 170) has rushed for 1,122 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging 8.7 yards per carry, has 11 receptions for 201 yards and a touchdown and has also thrown a 36-yard touchdown pass.
Key stat: City High has scored at least 40 points in every game during its five-game winning streak and Linn-Mar hasn’t allowed more than 27 points in a game this season.
About the Little Hawks: Since starting the season 0-2 City High has averaged 48.2 points per game while rattling off five consecutive wins.
City High is coming off a win over Davenport North in which it posted seasons highs in points (56) rushing yards (350) and rushing touchdowns (7).
The Little Hawks have been efficient offensively all season behind senior quarterback Bobby Bacon (6-2, 175).
City High is averaging 40.4 points and 449 total yards per game while averaging 7.6 yards per play.
Bacon has completed 70 percent of his passes (105-of-150) while throwing for 1,430 yards and 13 touchdowns with five interceptions.
Three different players have rushed for at least 400 yards and seven touchdowns led by senior Gabe Egeland (5-6, 157) who has rushed for 562 yards and eight touchdowns.
Sophomore Chayse Newton (5-8, 140) has caught 26 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns and senior tight end Parker Sutherland (6-6, 224) has caught 21 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns.
The City High defense is allowing 32.6 points and 336 total yards per game.
Freshman linebacker Marshall Sheldon (6-0, 173) has a team-high 50.5 tackles with six for loss and two sacks and junior Blaine Heick (6-2, 180) has 37 tackles with two for loss.
Jalyn Ford (6-0, 252) has 26 tackles and a team-high eight tackles for loss with three sacks.
About the Lions: Linn-Mar has been as impressive as any team in Eastern Iowa this season with its lone loss a 27-24 setback at unbeaten Bettendorf in week four.
Since the loss to the Bulldogs Linn-Mar has won three straight games while averaging 43.3 points per game.
Linn-Mar has been impressive on both sides of the ball so far.
On offense the Lions have relied on a running game that is averaging 252 yards per game while putting up 38 points and 395 total yards per game while averaging 8.2 yards per play.
Senior quarterback Austin Waller (6-0, 180) has completed 68 percent of his passes while throwing for 798 yards and six touchdowns with one interception.
Muszynski leads the rushing attacking while Emerson Gasper (5-8, 190) has rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown, Tyree Alons (6-0, 215) has rushed for 139 yards and tow touchdowns and Hud Turner (5-4, 150) has rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns.
Landon Sorg (5-10, 170) leads the Lions with 21 receptions for 387 yards and four touchdowns.
Linn-Mar has been equally impressive defensively holding teams to 228 total yards and 12 points per game while allowing 4.7 yards per play.
The Lions have been solid against the run holding five teams to 157 rushing yards or less while allowing 148 rushing yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry.
Carson Luense (5-10, 200) has a team-high 47.5 tackles with five for loss while Alons leads the team with seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
Pleasant Valley (6-1) at West High (4-3)

Player to watch: Pleasant Valley senior quarterback Harrison Fierce (6-0, 179) has completed 32-of-50 passes for 606 yards and nine touchdowns with just one interception and has rushed for 866 yards and a team-leading 14 touchdowns.
Key stat: Pleasant Valley has allowed five of its seven opponents to pass for more than 215 yards and is allowing 198 passing yards per game this season. West High leads Class 5A averaging 280 passing yards per game.
About the Spartans: A program that has relied heavily on a ball control offense and strong defense in past seasons Pleasant Valley has been one of the most productive offensive teams in Class 5A this season.
The Spartans are averaging 40.1 points and 410 total yards per game behind a running game that is putting up 319 rushing yards per game.
The Pleasant Valley offense led by senior quarterback Harrison Fierce is averaging 7.7 yards per play.
Senior Elijah Rodney (5-6, 150) has rushed for 944 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 6.6 yards per carry and junior Micah Herlich (5-10, 180) has rushed for 158 yards and Gavin Barber (5-7 160) has added 131 yards and three touchdowns.
Senior Camryn LeMoine (6-2, 168) has been the top target in the pass game with 10 receptions for 260 yards and six touchdowns.
On defense Pleasant Valley is allowing 19.3 points and 345 total yards per game while allowing 6.4 yards per play.
The Spartans have forced 13 turnovers in seven games with LeMoine leading the way with three interceptions.
Avyn Nelson (6-1, 195) has a team-high 31.5 tackles with 2.5 for loss while Glen Averill (5-9, 195) has 31 tackles with 2.5 for loss.
Senior Iowa recruit Joey VanWetzinga (6-2, 260) leads the Spartans with 7.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.
About the Trojans: West High has bounced back from back-to-back losses to City High and Ankeny with consecutive wins over Cedar Rapids Jefferson and Cedar Rapids Washington.
The Trojans are in the thick of the 5A playoff race coming in at No. 14 in the latest RPI ratings.
West High has lost four straight to Pleasant Valley including a 38-25 setback last season in Bettendorf with the last win over West High in the series coming in 2019.
Behind senior quarterback Jack Wallace (6-3, 220) West High has been among the most dynamic offenses in 5A this season.
West High is averaging 42.3 points and 430 total yards per game while averaging 7.7 yards per play.
Wallace has completed 70 percent of his passes (114-of-164) while throwing for 1,931 yards and 24 touchdowns with just four interceptions.
Senior Mason Woods (6-2, 220) has caught 35 passes for 722 yards and 10 touchdowns while Julian Manson (6-3, 215) has 30 receptions for 588 yards and eight touchdowns.
Senior running back Butali Butali (5-8, 170) has rushed for 463 yards and five touchdowns and Campbell Janis (5-8, 160) has rushed for 261 yards and two touchdowns.
On defense West High is allowing 379 total yards and 29.8 points per game while giving up 6.2 yards per play.
The Trojans are allowing 246 rushing yards per game and will look to shore that rush defense up against the triple option attack of Pleasant Valley.
Manson leads the team with 52 tackles while senior linebacker Declan Bunn (5-10, 200) has 44.5 tackles with 3.5 for loss.
Junior defensive back Ethan Headings (6-2, 185) has 35 tackles and senior linebacker Sterling Warren (6-0, 190) has 31 tackles with three for loss.
Liberty High (6-1) at Waterloo West (5-2)

Player to watch: Waterloo West senior running back Nathanael Kline (5-10, 180) has rushed for 792 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 4.9 yards per carry and ranks second on the team with 34.5 tackles including 1.5 for loss.
Key stat: Waterloo West has held opponents to an average of 204 total yards per game and 4.6 yards per play in its five wins and allowed 399 yards per game and 8 yards per play in its two losses.
About the Lightning: Liberty High has won four straight games while moving up to second in the Class 5A RPI ratings.
Since a loss at Pleasant Valley in week three the Lightning have posted wins over Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Cedar Rapids Washington and Ankeny.
Liberty High has been among the best offenses in 5A all season averaging 37.6 points and 434 total yards per game while averaging 7.6 yards per play.
Junior quarterback Reece Rettig (5-10, 165) has completed 74 percent of his passes (109-of-148) while throwing for 1,604 yards and 17 touchdowns with just two interceptions and has rushed for 280 yards and three touchdowns.
Senior Dallas Miller (5-11, 170) has been the top target with 41 receptions for 594 yards and five touchdowns.
Sutton Koller (5-11, 180) has caught 20 passes for 499 yards and six touchdowns and has rushed for 314 yards and five touchdowns.
Senior Owen Drapeaux (6-1, 210) has rushed for a team-high 676 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 5.4 yards per carry.
The Liberty High defense is allowing 382 total yards and 30.3 points per game while allowing 6.4 yards per play.
Koller leads the way with 48.5 tackles and is tied for the team lead with two interceptions while junior linebacker Landon Bell (6-0, 190) has 42.5 tackles with 1.5 for loss.
Mason Waterbury (6-1, 180) has 21.5 tackles with 4.5 for loss and Ethan Barber (6-0, 230) has 19.5 tackles with a team-high six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
About the WaHawks: It has been an excellent start for Waterloo West as the Wahawks have already eclipsed last season’s win total and have matched their highest win total since winning five games back in 2017.
Waterloo West won four consecutive games to open the season but has lost two of its last three with losses to Waukee Northwest and West Des Moines Valley.
Led by senior quarterback Brady Dean (5-11, 185) the Waterloo West offense is averaging 24.9 points and 271 total yards per game and 5.3 yards per play.
Dean has completed 57 percent of his passes while throwing for 742 yards and nine touchdowns with three interceptions and has rushed for 103 yards and a team-high six touchdowns.
Senior Nathanael Kline leads the Wahawk rushing attack while senior DeSean Kemp (5-7, 170) has been the top target in the passing game with 18 receptions for 175 yards and a touchdown.
Myles Gardner (6-4, 220) has 13 receptions for 197 yards and four touchdowns.
Waterloo West has been solid defensively holding teams to 23 points and 260 total yards per game while forcing 13 turnovers.
The WaHawks are holding opponents to 150 rushing yards per game and 5.7 yards per play.
Deztin McMurrin (6-0, 170) leads the team with 35.5 tackles including five for loss and Torian Doss (6-2, 180) has 30.5 tackles.
Junior Melakhi Hickey (6-2, 230) has 19.5 tackles and leads the team with 10 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
Fairfield (2-5) at Solon (5-2)
Where: Spartan Stadium, 7 p.m.

Player to watch: Fairfield senior Luke Konczal has rushed for 717 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 8 yards per carry and also leads the Trojans with 76.5 tackles.
Key stat: Solon allowed a total of 453 rushing yards in five consecutive wins to open the season and allowed 409 rushing yards in back-to-back losses the last two weeks.
About the Spartans: Following five consecutive wins to open the season Solon has dropped back-to-back games to Benton Community and Williamsburg.
Solon is 11th in the latest Class 3A RPI ratings and has played four games against teams currently in the top 13 in the RPI.
The Spartans are averaging 28 points and 373 total yards per game on offense while producing 6.3 yards per play.
Senior quarterback Ty Bell (6-1, 195) has completed 66 percent of his passes (103-of-157) while throwing for 1,182 yards and nine touchdowns with six interceptions.
Sophomore Maddox Kelley (5-10, 175) has been the top target in the pass game with 35 receptions for 415 yards and four touchdowns while Karsyn Regennitter (5-9, 160) has caught 23 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns.
Eddie Johnson (6-2, 210) has rushed for a team-high 854 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 7 yards per carry.
The Solon defense is holding opponents to 14.1 points and 265 total yards per game while allowing 4.8 yards per play
Kelley leads the team with 40 tackles while junior Kyler Jensen (6-0, 215) has 31 tackles with six for loss.
Tripp Johnson (5-11, 190) has 28.5 tackles with 4.5 for loss and junior Colby Myers (6-0, 190) has 20 tackles with 3.5 for loss.
About the Trojans: Fairfield stopped a four-game losing skid with a 33-29 win over South Tama last Friday.
The Trojans lost its opener 13-12 to Mount Pleasant before a 55-15 win over Fort Madison in week two prior to a four-game losing steak that included Class 3A, District 5 losses to Benton Community and Williamsburg.
Fairfield is averaging 26.4 points and 303 total yards per game and relies heavily on the run averaging 253 rushing yards per game.
Sophomore quarterback Voss Richardson has completed 38 percent of his passes (33-of-88) while throwing for 347 yards and two touchdowns with five interceptions and has rushed for 103 yards and four touchdowns.
Senior Luke Konczal headlines the Trojan rushing attacked while sophomore Zandrik Allison has rushed for 615 yards and seven touchdowns.
Sophomore Ethan Bisgard has rushed for 234 yards and five touchdowns and leads the Trojans with 17 receptions for 184 yards and a touchdown.
Fairfield is allowing 31.2 points per game and has given up at least 29 points in each of its last five games.
The Trojans are allowing 314 total yards per game, including 193 rushing yards per game, and 6.6 yards per play.
Bisgard has 25 tackles while junior Calvin McLain has 21 tackles including 4.5 tackles for loss including 1.5 sacks.
Clear Creek Amana (4-3) at Cedar Rapids Xavier (5-2)

Player to watch: Cedar Rapids Xavier junior running back Carter Hoffmann (6-1, 180) has rushed for 756 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 6.5 yards per carry and also has 14 receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown.
Key stat: Cedar Rapids Xavier has held Clear Creek Amana to seven points or fewer in four consecutive meetings since 2020.
About the Saints: Cedar Rapids Xavier opened the season with back-to-back wins over Waverly-Shell Rock and Williamsburg before consecutive losses to Western Dubuque and Pella.
The Saints have responded by winning three straight Class 4A, District 3 games by a combined total of 119-21.
The Cedar Rapids Xavier offense is averaging 28.3 points and 327 total yards per game behind sophomore quarterback Cash Parks (6-1, 190).
Parks has completed 57 percent of his passes while throwing for 698 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions and has rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior Carter Hoffman leads the Xavier rushing offense and junior Ryan Kelly (5-9, 155) has been the top option in the passing game with 40 receptions for 539 yards and three touchdowns.
Aiden Miller (6-2, 170) has caught 17 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns and Dustin Cook (5-7, 165) has 11 receptions for 193 yards and a touchdown.
Cedar Rapids Xavier has been solid defensively holding teams to 13.9 points and 250 total yards per game while limiting foes to 4.9 yards per play.
The Saints have allowed more than 21 points in a game just once this season and has posted two shutouts in three district games.
Senior Jack Stevenson (6-1, 205) leads the Saints with 40.5 tackles while sophomore Beau Morio (6-1, 175) has 33.5 tackles including five tackles for loss and two sacks.
About the Clippers: Clear Creek Amana had a three-game winning streak snapped with a 28-7 loss to North Scott last Friday.
The Clippers are No. 14 in the latest 4A RPI ratings and will likely need a pair of wins in its final two games to secure a spot in the postseason.
Clear Creek Amana is averaging 318 total yards and 25.4 points per game while averaging 5.7 yards per play.
Junior quarterback Conlan Poynton (5-11, 180) is completing 63 percent of his passes (58-of-92) while throwing for 611 yards and seven touchdowns with five interceptions.
Poynton has also rushed for a team-leading 721 yards and 13 touchdowns while averaging 5.3 yards per carry.
Junior Ethan Vice (6-0, 170) has rushed for 224 yards and a touchdown and Noah Collis (5-8, 175) has rushed for 168 yards.
Senior Owen Rosenberg (6-2, 180) has caught 26 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns and senior Cale Nash (5-9, 145) has caught 25 passes for 150 yards.
The Clear Creek Amana defense is holding opponents to 20.4 points and 281 total yards per game while allowing 5 yards per play.
Senior Trace Robertson (6-0, 170) has a team-high 43 tackles with 11 for loss and four sacks.
Dylan Schrock (5-11, 195) has 42 tackles with eight for loss and senior Nolan Howell (5-10, 165) has 28 tackles with four for loss.
Wilton (7-0) at Regina (6-1)

Player to watch: Wilton senior quarterback Drew Keith (5-11, 185) has completed 67 percent of his passes (98-of-147) while throwing for 1,258 yards and 17 touchdowns with three interceptions and has also rushed for 322 yards and three touchdowns.
Key stat: Regina has defeated Wilton four times in the past three seasons by a combined total of 140-38.
About the Regals: Regina had a six-game winning streak snapped with a 28-15 loss at Dyersville Beckman last week.
Regina is averaging 360 total yards and 30.6 points per game while putting up 6.8 yards per play.
Junior quarterback Kyle Tracy (5-10, 175) has completed 63 percent of his passes (81-of-130) while throwing for 1,299 yards and 15 touchdowns with three interceptions and has also rushed for 350 yards and five touchdowns.
Sophomore Savion Miller (5-11, 180) has rushed for 534 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 5.8 yards per carry and has caught 11 passes for 134 yards.
Tate Wallace (6-2, 225) has caught a team-high 32 passes for 502 yards and six touchdowns while senior Will Aitchison (5-10, 180) has caught 15 passes for 298 yards.
Drew Greve (6-0, 150) has 13 receptions for 217 yards and four touchdowns.
On defense Regina is holding opponents to 17.9 points and 212 total yards per game while allowing 4.3 yards per play.
Aitchison leads Regina with 42 tackles including three for loss while Spencer Winders (5-10, 170) has 33 tackles with 1.5 for loss.
Edwin Gangba (5-9, 154) has 30 tackles and Leren Fernandez (5-11, 190) has 24.5 tackles with 6.5 for loss and three sacks.
About the Beavers: Wilton has been impressive while starting the season 7-0 outscoring opponents by a total of 242-65.
The Beavers are coming off a 39-20 win over West Branch last Friday and can clinch the Class 1A, District 5 title outright with a win on Friday.
Wilton has been impressive on both sides of the ball.
The Beavers have scored at least 30 points in six consecutive games and are averaging 34.6 points per game on the season.
Wilton is putting up 359 total yards per game while averaging 6.8 yards per play.
The offense is led by senior quarterback Drew Keith who is surrounded by playmakers at every position.
Senior Owen Hassell (5-8, 160) has rushed for 723 yards and 13 touchdowns while averaging 5.5 yards per carry.
Kale McQuillen (5-8, 130) leads the Beavers with 31 receptions for 389 yards and five touchdowns while Cade Souhrada (5-11, 175) has 21 receptions for 313 yards and five touchdowns.
Jordan Dusenberry (5-11, 160) has caught 27 passes for 268 yards and a touchdown.
Wilton has been equally impressive on defense holding opponents to 9.3 points and 216 total yards per game while allowing just 4.2 yards per play.
The Beavers haven’t given up more than 20 points or 257 total yards in a game this season.
Junior Hayden Hill (5-9, 170) has a team-high 52 tackles including four for loss while senior Owen Milder (5-10, 180) has 41.5 tackles with 6.5 for loss.

Player to watch: Durant senior defensive lineman Bryce Daufeldt has made a team-high 51.5 tackles including seven tackles for loss and a sack and has also recovered a fumble.
Key stat: West Branch junior linebacker Cooper Gates ranks second in Class 1A with seven sacks and trails the 1A sack leader by 1.5 sacks.
About the Bears: West Branch dropped its third straight game last week falling to Wilton 39-20 at the Little Rose Bowl.
The Bears can secure the fourth-place finish in Class 1A, District 5 and a playoff spot with a win on Friday.
West Branch is averaging 245 total yards and 19.6 points per game while averaging 5.1 yards per play.
Junior Cooper Gates has rushed for a team-high 468 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Junior Conner Capper has caught a team-high 17 passes for 167 yards, junior Oliver Trepanier has 11 receptions for 130 yards and Brandon Pedersen has caught 11 passes for 228 yards and five touchdowns.
West Branch is holding opponents to 309 total yards and 30 points and is allowing 5.9 yards per play.
Gates has a team-high 42.5 tackles including 10 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

About the Wildcats: Durant has lost five games in a row after a week-two win over Waterloo Columbus and is coming off a 34-12 loss at Cascade last week.
