The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts.
AJ Coons
Former Solon standout and current South Dakota senior wide receiver AJ Coons had a big game in the Coyotes 42-17 win over Northern Iowa on Saturday at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
Coons caught two passes for a team-high 61 yards and a touchdown as South Dakota improved to 5-1 in the season.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Coons hauled in a 37-yard touchdown pass with 1:52 remaining in the first half to give South Dakota a 28-10 halftime lead.
On the season Coons has four receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown in six games.
Regan Steigleder
Former West High and Northwestern standout Regan Steigleder is a member of the Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League.
A defender for the Current, Steigleder started 85 matches in her collegiate career at Northwestern before playing professional for two seasons in Sweden.
Steigleder has helped the Current to a 14-3-7 record and a top-four finish and home playoff match in the NWSL.
Grahm Goering
West High graduate and current South Dakota State junior wide receiver Grahm Goering had a touchdown in a 63-13 win over Youngstown State on Saturday in Brookings, South Dakota.
Goering caught two passes for 55 yards including a 45-yard touchdown as the Jackrabbits improved to 5-1 on the season.
On the season Goering ranks second on the team in both receptions (16) and receiving yards (274) and is tied for the team lead with four touchdown receptions.
