One of the most dynamic two-way players in the state has settled on a baseball future.
City High senior Jaxton Schroeder announced his commitment to Kirkwood Community College on Thursday with a post on social media.
“I am thrilled to announce my commitment to Kirkwood CC to continue my academic and baseball career,” Schroeder wrote on X. “This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of my coaches and family.”
Schroeder emerged as one of the best two-way players in the state last summer during an impressive breakthrough junior campaign.
The left-handed throwing Schroeder was dominant on the mound posting a 7-1 record and a 1.69 ERA with a .85 WHIP while striking out 54 in 45 2/3 innings.
Schroeder was equally impressive at the plate.
He led City High in batting average (.379), hits (39), runs (29), doubles (11) home runs (2), extra-base hits (16), walks (26), stolen bases (35), on-base percentage (.508) and slugging percentage (.602).
Kirkwood went 43-15 last season.
