Player to watch: Davenport Central junior running back Carson Williams (5-10, 175) has rushed for a team-high 434 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 9.9 yards per carry and has five receptions for 41 yards and also leads the team with 31 tackles including 2.5 for loss.
Key stat: During its current three-game winning streak City High is averaging 495 yards of total offense and 45.3 points per game.
About the Little Hawks: After opening the season 0-2 City High has won three games in a row including a pair of come-from-behind one-point wins.
City High won its second straight game on a two-point conversion attempt in the final minute last Thursday when it defeated Cedar Rapids Kennedy 43-42.
The Little Hawks have been dynamic offensively all season averaging 35.6 points and 430 total yards per game while averaging 7.5 yards per play.
Senior quarterback Bobby Bacon (6-2, 175) has completed 75 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,088 yards and nine touchdowns with three interceptions.
Chayse Newton (6-0, 155) has been the top receiver for the Little Hawks with 20 receptions for 251 yards and two touchdowns while Parker Sutherland (6-6, 224) has 16 receptions for 243 yards and three touchdowns.
Dawson Kahl (6-2, 190) has rushed for 374 yards and seven touchdowns and Dominic Salibi (6-1, 183) has rushed for 354 yards and five touchdowns and has 14 receptions for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
The City High defense is allowing 38.8 points and 483 total yards per game.
Freshman linebacker Marshall Sheldon (6-0, 173) leads the Little Hawks with 37.5 tackles including two for loss and junior linebacker Blaine Heick (6-2, 180) has 27 tackles with two for loss.
Junior defensive end Raphael Etuma (6-2, 200) has a team-high six tackles for loss and two sacks while senior Jalyn Ford (6-0, 252) has five tackles for loss and two sacks.
About the Blue Devils: Davenport Central has already matched its win total from a year ago picking up victories over Clinton (52-32) in the season opener and Davenport West (7-0) in week four.
The previous two losses for Davenport Central have come to four-win teams Waterloo West (28-7) and Davenport North (39-0).
Davenport West is averaging 17 points and 236 total yards per game and has relied heavily on the running game averaging 185 rushing yards per game and 5.9 yards per carry.
Williams leads the way for the Blue Devils while junior Giovanni Hayslett (5-6, 150) has rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown.

Player to watch: Cedar Rapids Jefferson junior receiver LJ Nyenow (6-2, 190) has caught a team-high 31 passes for 677 yards and seven touchdowns and is averaging 21.8 yards per reception.
Key stat: Cedar Rapids Jefferson ranks second in the state and leads Class 5A with 66.5 tackles for loss and has seven players with at least five tackles for loss.
About the J-Hawks: Cedar Rapids Jefferson is off to a 4-1 start for the second consecutive season.
Just like it did a year ago Cedar Rapids Jefferson started 4-0 before a 30-27 loss to cross-town rival Cedar Rapids Jefferson last season.
Last season a loss to the Warriors in week five started a five-game losing skid in which the J-Hawks were outscored 175-23.
Cedar Rapids Jefferson will try to reverse the final four games this season behind an offense that is averaging 368 total yards and 33 points per game and 8.2 yards per play.
Junior quarterback Vernon Benda (6-0, 200) has completed 66 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,203 yards and 15 touchdowns with one interception and has also rushed for two touchdowns.
Senior running back Ishara Kalolero (5-8, 190) has rushed for a team-high 533 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 7.6 yards per carry and has caught four passes for 41 yards.
Nyenow has been the top target for Benda while Dayten Guy (5-11, 200) has caught 13 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns and Jermaine Robinson (5-8, 155) has 12 receptions for 142 yards and four touchdowns.
Cedar Rapids Jefferson has been impressive on defense holding opponents to 238 total yards and 13 points per game.
The J-Hawks have held opponents to under 260 total yards and 14 points in four of five games this season.
Kayden James (5-8, 190) leads the J-Hawks with 53.5 tackles including 7.5 for loss and Eli Szabo (6-2, 170) has 53 tackles with 5.5 for loss.
Nelson Evans IV (6-6, 300) has 11 tackles for loss including three sacks, Jaydon McCauley (5-11, 230) has 10.5 tackles for loss and Anthony Snodey (6-1, 231) has 10.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
About the Trojans: West High has lost back-to-back games after a 2-1 start falling to Ankeny 38-22 last week.
The Trojans have continued to be among the most efficient offensive teams in the state averaging 38.4 points and 409 total yards per game while averaging 6.8 yards per play.
West High has put up at least 380 yards of offense in every game this season and has cracked 400 yards of total offense three times.
Senior quarterback Jack Wallace (6-3, 220) has been among the best in the state this season and leads 5A in passing touchdowns (15), total touchdowns (19) and passing yards (1,307).
Wallace is completing 70 percent of his passes and has also rushed for 159 yards and four touchdowns.
Mason Woods (6-2, 220) has been the top target with 28 receptions for 533 yards and seven touchdowns and junior Julian Manson (6-3, 215) has 25 receptions for 359 yards and five touchdowns.
Chase Bopp (6-0, 185) has caught 14 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown and Henry Elser (6-1, 165) has 13 receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown.
Senior Butali Butali (5-8, 170) has rushed for a team-high 375 yards and three touchdowns and Campbell Janis (5-8, 160) has rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown.
West High is allowing 36.4 points and 434 total yards per game on defense.
The Trojans are led by Manson who has a team-high 41 tackles and senior linebacker Declan Bunn (5-10, 200) who has 36 tackles including a team-high three tackles for loss.
Junior defensive back Ethan Headings (6-2, 185) has 29 tackles.
Liberty High (4-1) at Cedar Rapids Washington (2-3)

Player to watch: Cedar Rapids Washington junior quarterback Grady McGuire (6-2, 165) has completed 41-of-84 passes while throwing for 538 yards and seven touchdowns with four interceptions and has also rushed for a team-high 327 yards and four touchdowns.
Key stat: Cedar Rapids Washington senior defensive lineman Wyatt Young (6-2, 225) has more sacks (10) than 27 of the teams in Class 5A.
About the Lightning: Liberty High picked up a pivotal 26-21 win over Cedar Rapids Prairie last week matching its win total from last season and the best start in program history at 4-1.
Against Cedar Rapids Prairie the Lightning were held to season lows of 223 total yards, 26 points and 4.9 yards per play but got the best defensive effort of the season to win its second straight game.
Liberty High has been exceptional offensively all season averaging 41.6 points and 450 total yards per game while averaging 7.9 yards per play.
Junior quarterback Reece Rettig (5-10, 160) has completed 74 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,106 yards and 12 touchdowns with just one interception and has rushed for 239 yards and two touchdowns.
Dallas Miller (5-11, 170) leads the team with 31 receptions for 453 yards and three touchdowns and Collin Decker (6-3, 210) has 15 receptions for 142 yards.
Sutton Koller (5-11, 180) has rushed for 284 yards and five touchdowns and has caught 14 passes for 359 yards and five touchdowns.
Owen Drapeaux (6-1, 210) has rushed for a team-high 461 yards and nine touchdowns and has five tackles for loss and two sacks.
The Liberty High defense is allowing 34 points and 411 total yards per game and has improved as the season has gone on.
Koller leads the team with 38.5 tackles including 3.5 for loss and Landon Bell (6-0, 190) has 34 tackles with 1.5 for loss.
About the Warriors: Cedar Rapids Washington has already eclipsed its win total from last season and has won two of its last three games after an 0-2 start.
The Warriors snapped a six-game winning streak that dated back to last season with a 36-6 win over Davenport West in week three and is coming off a 30-27 victory over previously unbeaten Cedar Rapids Washington last week.
Led by McGuire and versatile senior Brock Davis (5-11, 180) the Warrior offense is averaging 25.6 points and 302 total yards per game on 5.9 yards per play.
Davis has rushed for 229 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 7.6 yards per carry and has caught a team-high 21 passes for 262 yards and four touchdowns.
Senior Alex Taylor (5-10, 260) has rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns and Nicholas Riley (5-11, 200) has rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Young leads a Cedar Rapids Washington defense that has racked up 21 sacks and among 47.5 tackles for loss.
The Warriors are allowing 30 points and 318 total yards per game while giving up 6.6 yards per play.
Young has a team-high 37 tackles with 13 for loss while Taylor has nine tackles for loss among his 19 tackles.
Solon (5-0) at Benton Community (3-2)
Where: Benton Community High School in Van Horne, 7:30 p.m.

Player to watch: Benton Community senior Dylan LeFebvere (5-10, 190) has rushed for 358 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns while averaging 5.3 yards per carry and ranks second on the team with 26 tackles including 4.5 for loss.
Key stat: Benton Community has averaged 272 rushing yards per game on 8.8 yards per carry in its three wins and has managed 106 rushing yards on 3 yards per carry in two losses.
About the Spartans: One of only four remaining undefeated teams in Class 3A, Solon has won back-to-back games over previously undefeated teams Mount Vernon and Grinnell.
Solon has outscored opponents 163-36 during its first 5-0 start since 2021.
The Spartans have relied on a stingy defense during its unbeaten start holding opponents to 7.2 points and 228 total yards per game.
Solon has allowed more than seven points just once this season and has held four of five opponents under 265 yards of total offense.
Junior linebacker Kyler Jensen (6-0, 215) has a team-high 31 tackles including six for loss while sophomore Maddox Kelley (5-10, 175) has 28.5 tackles and a team-high three interceptions.
Eddie Johnson (6-2, 210) has a team-high 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss and junior Colby Myers (6-0, 190) has three tackles for loss.
Solon is averaging 32.6 points and 383 total yards per game and 6.8 yards per play on offense behind senior quarterback Ty Bell (6-1, 195).
Bell has completed 70 percent of his passes while throwing for 789 yards and eight touchdowns with five interceptions.
Kelley has a team-high 23 receptions for 271 yards and Karsyn Regennitter (5-9, 160) has 15 receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
Johnson has rushed for 685 yards and nine touchdowns and senior Cole Carney (5-8, 170) has rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns.
About the Bobcats: Benton Community snapped a two-game losing streak with a 29-14 win at Fairfield last week in its district opener.
The Bobcats lost back-to-back home games to Mount Vernon (15-13) and Clear Creek Amana (21-10) before last week’s win at Fairfield.
Benton Community is averaging 28.2 points and 297 total yards per game while producing 6.4 yards per play.
The Bobcats rely heavily on the run game averaging 206 rushing yards per game.
Three different players have rushed for at least 150 yards for Benton Community including LeFebvere and junior Carson Nolan (6-0, 185) who has rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 8.4 yards per carry.
Five different players have attempted a pass for the Bobcats this season led by Nolan who has completed 20-of-35 passes while throwing for 247 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
Junior Brody Timmerman (5-10, 150) leads the Bobcats with nine receptions for 106 yards while Eli Patterson (6-4, 175) has caught seven passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
Benton Community has been solid defensively holding teams to 254 total yards and 12.6 points per game while allowing 4.5 yards per play.
The Bobcats are allowing 150 rushing yards per game and 4.2 yards per carry.
Grant Volesky (6-0, 190) leads the Bobcats with 34.5 tackles with five for loss and Blayke Heying (5-10, 170) has 21 tackles with 1.5 for loss.
Benton Community has 10 interceptions in five games with Patterson picking off five passes and LeFebvere has three interceptions.

Player to watch: Burlington junior quarterback John Phillips (5-8, 175) has completed 19-of-58 passes while throwing for 298 yards and a touchdown with four interceptions and has rushed for a team-leading 308 yards and five touchdowns.
Key stat: Clear Creek Amana junior quarterback Conlan Poynton has accounted for 14 of the Clippers’ 16 offensive touchdowns this season passing for five touchdowns and rushing for nine scores.
About the Clippers: Clear Creek Amana has posted back-to-back road wins following a 1-2 start to the season knocking off Benton Community 21-10 and Oskaloosa 32-13.
The Clippers return home where they are seeking their first home victory in three games this season.
Clear Creek Amana is averaging 23 points and 347 total yards per game while putting up 6 yards per play.
Poynton (5-11, 180) leads the Clipper offense and has been efficient, completing 34-of-57 passes for 442 yards and five touchdowns without an interception while rushing for 585 yards and nine touchdowns.
Ethan Vice (6-0, 170) has rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown and Noah Collis (5-8, 175) has rushed for 134 yards.

Key stat: West Branch has won two straight over Regina downing the Regals 23-0 in 2022 and 21-17 last season.
About the Bears: West Branch had a two-game winning streak halted last week with a 41-13 home loss to Dyersville Beckman.
After an 0-2 start to the season the Bears posted back-to-back wins over Waterloo Columbus and Cascade.
West Branch is averaging 21.4 points and 268 total yards per game and 5.7 yards per play this season.
Senior quarterback Connor Rios has completed 46 percent of his passes while throwing for 532 yards and two touchdowns with six interceptions and has rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns.
Cooper Gates has rushed for 387 yards and five touchdowns while Keaton Gates has added 108 yards and a touchdown.
Conner Capper has a team-high 12 receptions for 135 yards while Brandon Pedersen has caught five passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns.
On defense West Branch is allowing 28.6 points and 294 total yards per game while surrendering 5.9 yards per play.
Cooper Gates has a team-high 28.5 tackles including 4.5 for loss and three sacks and Tate Frantz has 22 tackles with 4.5 for loss.
Lincoln Naber has 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks among his 20 tackles and Capper has 21 tackles.
About the Regals: Regina was ranked second in the first Class 1A rankings of the season released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association this week.
The Regals improved to 2-0 in District 5 play with a 21-7 win over Cascade last week after defeating Durant 49-14 in the district opener two weeks ago.
Regina is averaging 34.2 points and 384 total yards per game while posting 7.5 yards per play.
Tracy leads a Regina offense that has scored at least 21 points in every game this season.
Sophomore Tate Wallace (6-2, 225) has a team-high 23 receptions for 383 yards and five touchdowns. Drew Greve (6-0, 150) has caught nine passes for 169 yards and three touchdowns and Will Aitchison (5-10, 180) has eight receptions for 148 yards and one touchdown.
Sophomore Savion Miller (5-11, 180) has rushed for a team-high 461 yards and three touchdowns and Aitchison has added 65 rushing yards.
Regina has been excellent defensively holding teams to 17.4 points and 215 total yards per game while allowing just 4.6 yards per play.
Aitchison leads the team with 22 tackles while Edwin Gangba (5-9, 154) and Spencer Winders (5-10, 170) each have 21 tackles.
Noah Clark (6-0, 220) has a team-high four tackles for loss including three sacks and Greve has 10.5 tackles and three interceptions.
