Class 5A No. 10 Liberty High overcame an opening-set loss to down Western Dubuque 22-25, 25-19, 25-17, 26-24 in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division match on Tuesday in North Liberty.

Liberty High improved to 10-15 on the season with the win while Western Dubuque dropped to 9-10.

Seven different Liberty High players had at least four kills in the win led by Asta Hildebrand who finished with a team-high 16 kills.

Sydney Van Heukelom had 12 kills while Ashlyn Nordell and Lucy Maassen each finished with eight kills for the Lightning.

Ellie Wilson had seven kills, Hadley Miller had five and Ava Meidlinger had four kills.

Hadley Miller had 29 assists and two ace serves and Hildebrand had 19 assists, 18 digs and six blocks

Edie Miller had a team-leading 44 digs, Wilson had 25 digs and two ace serves and Nordell had a team-high seven blocks.
