Liberty High Senior Pitcher Waterbury Commits to Southeastern Community College

One of the top pitchers in the state has made a decision on his baseball future.
Liberty High senior Mason Waterbury announced his commitment to Southeastern Community College with a post on social media on Wednesday.
“I am blessed to announce my commitment to continue my academic athletic career at Southeastern Community College,” Waterbury wrote on a post on X. “I want to thank all of my family, coaches, friends and teammates that have helped me along the way.”
Over the past two seasons Waterbury has emerged as one of the top pitchers in the state.
The left-hander has compiled a 16-2 record and 1.30 ERA with 112 strikeouts in 102 1/3 innings over the past two seasons.
Waterbury went 6-2 with a with a 2.71 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings during a breakout sophomore season two summers ago.
Last year Waterbury took the step into the elite hurlers in the state.
Waterbury was named Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division athlete of the year and was a Class 4A first-team all-state selection after ranking in the top three in 4A in wins, ERA and WHIP.
During his stellar junior season Waterbury went 10-0 with a .79 ERA and .79 WHIP ranking second in 4A in wins and ERA and third in WHIP.
Waterbury struck out 68 and walked just 15 in a career-high 61 innings pitched last season.
Southeastern Community College was 43-19 last season and advanced to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament for the second consecutive season.
