Mark Roering helped Regina reach the state title in 1994 as an assistant coach.
30 years later Roering is ready to repeat that success as the leader of the Regina program.
Regina announced that Roering has been hired as the new head baseball coach at Regina in a press release on Tuesday.
Roering comes to Regina after spending the last nine years at West Des Moines Dowling where he led the Maroons to the Class 4A state title game three times.
“We’re very excited to welcome Coach Roering back to Regina,” Regina Activities Director Taylor Hotek said in the release. “Mark has a track record of success on the field, but more importantly, he values the growth and development of his players, both as athletes and as individuals. His experience and leadership will be a great addition to our community.”
Roering replaces Steve Pacha who led the Regina program for four seasons.
In nine seasons at West Des Moines Dowling Roering posted a 285-104 record leading the Maroons to the state tournament six times including Class 4A runner-up finishes in 2017, 2022 and 2024.
West Des Moines Dowling went 25-16 last season falling to Cedar Rapids Kennedy 7-3 in the 4A title game.
“I am very excited to be chosen as the next head baseball coach at Regina High School,” Roering said in a release. “I look forward to being part of a great program and helping the next generation of Regals be successful on and off the field.”
Regina was 14-19 last season.
