Regina Remains Unbeaten With 31-21 Win Over Mediapolis

IOWA CITY – A quick start and a third-quarter spurt helped Regina remain undefeated on Friday night.
Regina raced to a 14-0 lead less than eight minutes into the game and scored 10 points in less than 15 seconds in the third quarter on its way to a 31-21 win over Mediapolis in a non-district contest at Regina.
Kyle Tracy passed for 248 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 60 yards and a score as Regina improved to 3-0 on the season.
Noah Schmidgall ran for three touchdowns for Mediapolis which pulled even at 14-14 in the second half but dropped to 1-2 with the loss.
Regina raced to a 14-0 lead less than eight minutes into the game.
The Regals took the opening kickoff and went 71 yards in 11 plays capped by a five-yard touchdown run by Tracy.
Regina linebacker Leren Fernandez recovered a fumble on the Bulldogs’ first drive of the game and two plays later Tracy found sophomore tight end Tate Wallace for a 22-yard touchdown on a screen pass that put Regina up 14-0 with 4:01 remaining in the first quarter.
Mediapolis got on the board on a touchdown run by Schmidgall just before the half and tied the game at 14-all in the third quarter on the second scoring run of the game by Schmidgall.
Regina regained the lead on a 28 yard field goal by freshman place kicker Gabriel Hegelheimer.
The Regals recovered an onside kick after the Hegelheimer field goal and on the next offensive play Tracy hit Drew Greve for a 43-yard touchdown pass that put Regina up 24-14.
Wallace put the game away with a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Tracy finished 14-of-17 through the air with Wallace catching six passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Greve had three receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown and also had an interception.
Will Aitchison caught two passes for 31 yards and Savion Miller rushed for 53 yards on 16 carries.
Aaron Honore also had a second-half interception for the Regals.
Regina opens district play next Friday at Durant (1-2) at 7 p.m.
