Solon made a strong statement on Thursday finishing runner-up in an impressive field at the Gilbert Invitational at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames.

Senior Sydney Dee and freshman Kinley Mai each posted top-15 finishes as Class 3A tenth-ranked Solon finished runner-up behind top-ranked Pella.

Pella ran away with the team title putting three runners in the top four and five in the top nine led by individual champion Marissa Ferebee while finishing with 23 points.

Led by a 14^th place finish from Dee in 19:28.1 and a 15^th place finish from Mai in a time of 19:29.3 Solon finished with 134 points.

Each of the top 11 teams were ranked including eight teams ranked in the top 10 in their respective class.

Class 2A top-ranked Van Meter was third with 164 points followed by 3A No. 18 Clear Creek Amana with 178.

Class 3A No. 14 Winterset was fifth with 184, seventh-ranked ADM was sixth with 191, fourth-ranked Gilbert was seventh with 217 and 1A second-ranked Earlham was eighth with 227.

Freshman Liv Nelson finished 29^th for Solon in a time of 20:18.9 and freshman Addison Seamans was 33^rd in 20:27.4 while sophomore Ava Rolwes was 43^rd in 20:48.9.

Kira Barker led Clear Creek Amana placing 23^rd in a time of 20:00.4 while Kadence Whitmer was 31^st in 20:23.1.

Sara Kinzenbaw finished 34^th in 20:28.2 and Raegan Wyant was 38^th in 20:37.9 for the Clippers.
