Class 5A No. 10 Liberty High shrugged off an opening set loss to down Cedar Rapids Kennedy 23-25, 25-7, 29-27, 25-21 in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division match in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday.

Liberty High improved to 4-8 on the season and 1-1 in MVC play while Cedar Rapids Kennedy dropped to 3-8 and 0-3 in MVC divisional matches.

Asta Hildebrand had 21 kills, 19 assists and three blocks to lead the Lightning while Sydney Van Heukelom had nine blocks and eight kills for Liberty High.

Hadley Miller had seven kills and 25 assists and Edie Miller had a team-high 30 digs and six ace serves for the Lightning.

Ellie Wilson added 11 digs, five kills and five blocks, Ava Meidlinger had five kills and three blocks and Ashlyn Nordell had four kills for Liberty High.

Adalyn Hermanson led Cedar Rapids Kennedy with 20 kills and Addy Phillips had eight kills for the Cougars.
