Softball Roundup: Liberty High Offense Erupts in Regional Semifinal Win Over Davenport North

Liberty High had nearly two weeks off between its final regular season game and its postseason opener on Saturday.
The break did nothing to disrupt the high-powered Liberty High offense.
In its first game in 12 days eighth-ranked Liberty High hammered 18 hits on its way to a 15-3 win over Davenport North (17-20) in a Class 5A, Region 6 semifinal on Saturday in North Liberty.
The win was the sixth straight for Liberty High (23-11) which hadn’t played since sweeping Maquoketa in a doubleheader on July 1.
Liberty High will travel to third-ranked Muscatine (26-10) for the Region 6 title game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Every player in the Liberty High lineup had a hit on Saturday as half of the 18 hits for the Lightning went for extra bases.
Mischa Reiners led the way going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three RBI and two runs scored.
Kennedy Conner was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI and Haley Schroeder was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored.
Kelsey Kaut had a double among her two hits and drove in two runs and scored twice while Ava Tague doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored a run.
Lanie Meyer homered and scored two runs and Kenna Jenn was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Kinley Jones and Brynlee Slockett each had hit and scored a run for the Lightning.
Ellie Tague earned the win allowing three runs on three hits in two innings and Kaelyn Rickels worked two hitless innings of relief.
