West High had its season end with a 13-3 loss to Marshalltown on Thursday in a Class 5A, Region 4 quarterfinal in Marshalltown.

The host Bobcats broke open a 6-3 game with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning while advancing to the Region 4 semifinal where they will face sixth-ranked Ankeny Centennial (28-9) on Saturday at 7 p.m.

West High closed the season at 3-32.

Savannah Mathias went 2-for-3 with a run scored for West High on Thursday while Cecilia Sterba was 2-for-2 with a double, a home run and two RBI.

Aarianna Shaw had a hit and scored a run and Maile Kruse, Olivia Freidhof and Delores Hubbard all added hits for the Trojans.
