West High has found the new leader of its volleyball program.
Ben Crusinberry was announced as the interim heady coach at West High this week pending approval of the school board.
Crusinberry replaces Keeley Arnold who resigned in June after leading the Trojans to a 36-64 record over the past three seasons.
A graduate of Hunter College in New York, Crusinberry was a four-year starter on the men’s volleyball team and earned first-team all-conference honors in his final three seasons.
Crusinberry was an assistant coach at Hunter College for both the men’s and women’s volleyball program and currently coaches with Six Pack Volleyball Club.
“Ben has had success playing and coaching volleyball where he has gone,” West High athletic director BJ Mayer said in a release. “His experience and knowledge of the game will be a great asset to our program moving forward. We are excited to have Ben as the interim head coach to work with our student athletes and help them reach their potential.”
Crusinberry takes over for Arnold who took the reins of the program as interim coach 10 games into the 2020 season.
West High was 9-25 last season and opens the season August 12.
“I am honored and thrilled to lead a program steeped in such a rich volleyball tradition and I’m eager to bring my passion and energy to the team,” Crusinberry said. “I’d like to thank athletic director BJ Mayer and principal Mitch Gross for the opportunity.”
