Softball Roundup: Solon Splits Doubleheader With 3A Second-ranked Benton Community

Class 3A tenth-ranked Solon split a WAMAC Conference cross-divisional doubleheader with 3A No. 2 Benton Community on Monday dropping the opener 12-3 and winning the nightcap 8-1.
Solon snapped a 10-game losing streak with the win in game two and improved to 9-14 on the season.
The game two loss stopped a 10-game winning streak for Benton Community and dropped the Bobcats to 20-4 on the season.
Izzy Frees went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored in the opener while Emerson Miller had a hit and scored a run and Kayla Meseck had a hit.
Keegan Kleppe and Avery Babbitt each had an RBI.
Kendall Jensen earned the win in the nightcap allowing one run on six hits in a complete game.
Jensen also homered and drove in three runs in the game-two win.
Frees had two hits, Miller had two hits and scored two runs and Meseck had a hit and drove in two runs in game two.
Kleppe had two RBI and scored a run for the Spartans.
