Softball Roundup: City High Splits Doubleheader With 4A No. 10 Cedar Rapids Xavier

City High split a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader with Class 4A No. 10 Cedar Rapids Xavier on Monday in Iowa City winning the opener 3-2 in eight innings and dropping the nightcap 9-6.
The Little Hawks moved to 6-14 with the doubleheader split while Cedar Rapids Xavier is now 18-7 on the season.
City High won the opener with a run in the bottom of the eighth inning on an Avy Lindsay sacrifice fly.
Lianna Hull tripled with one out and after back-to-back intentional walks to load the bases Lindsay delivered the game-winning RBI.
Lance Grulke-Mangrich earned the win for City High allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking one in an eight-inning complete game.
Molly Carlson was 1-for-2 with a home run, two RBI and a pair of walks and Hull was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Little Hawks.
In the nightcap Hull, Carlson and Maeve Obermueller all had two hits to lead the Little Hawks.
Hull was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs, Obermueller doubled and tripled and drove in a run while Carlson was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Lindsay homered in the nightcap and drove in two runs.
