Baseball Roundup: Liberty High Splits Top-10 Doubleheader With Linn-Mar

Seventh-ranked Liberty High and ninth-ranked Linn-Mar split a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional doubleheader on Monday at Oak Ridge Middle School in Marion.
Liberty High won the opener 8-5 and Linn-Mar rallied to win the nightcap 10-3.
With the split Liberty High is now 18-8 on the season while Linn-Mar is 17-7.
Mason Waterbury earned the win for Liberty High in the opener allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits while striking out four and walking two.
Ryan Schmeier went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored to lead Liberty High while Evan Schmierer was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Cooper Hughes tripled and drove in two runs, Jackson Khamphilanouvong was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Jayden Khamphilanouvong doubled.
In the nightcap Carter Meyers went 2-for-3 and scored a run for Liberty High while Hughes was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Brayden Mayer had a hit and drove in a run and Evan Schmierer had a hit and scored a run for the Lightning.
