Class 3A No. 10 Solon swept Benton Community in a WAMAC Conference cross-divisional doubleheader on Monday winning the opener 5-0 and taking the nightcap 5-3.

Solon improved to 17-7 with the sweep while Benton Community dropped to 20-8 on the season.

The losses snapped a five-game winning streak for Benton Community which had won 14 of its last 16 games following a 6-4 start to the season.

Vince Steinbrech earned the win in the opener allowing just five hits and one walk while striking out nine in a complete game shutout.

Steinbrech also went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the game-one win.

Nolan Seagren doubled, scored twice and drove in a run while Gehrig Turner and Dylan Gorham each doubled and scored a run.

Garret Stebral had a double while Tyson Wheeler drove in a run and scored a run.

Jackson Link earned the win in game two allowing three runs, two earned, on nine hits while striking out three in 6 1/3 innings.

Tyson Wheeler recorded the final two outs to earn the save.

Turner went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while Brett White went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple to lead the Spartans.

Stebral had two hits and Seagren had a hit and scored a run for the Spartans.
