State Qualifiers West High, City High, Regina and West Branch Put Players on IHSSCA All-State Teams

West High, City High, Regina and West Branch all established themselves as the top teams in their classes when they advanced to the state soccer tournament last month.
All four of those teams had individuals recognized as being among the best players in the state this week.
State qualifiers West Branch, Regina, West High and City High all had multiple players named to the Iowa High School Coaches Association All-State teams when the organization released its postseason awards.
Class 4A semifinalist West High had three all-state selections highlighted by a pair of first-team picks in junior Daniel Fuentes and senior Kaleab Wendy.
Fuentes led West High with 24 goals and added eight assists while Wendy had 14 goals and eight assists while helping the Trojans to a 20-3 record.
Junior Liam Teghanemt was an honorable mention selection in 4A after scoring six goals and adding two assists.
Class 4A state qualifier City High had two all-state picks as juniors Jack Dancer and
Jackson Nichols-Lindsey were both named to the 4A second team.
Dancer ranked second on the team with seven goals and joined Nichols-Lindsey in helping to the lead the Little Hawks to a 12-4 record and the first state tournament trip since 2018.
Regina had three players named to the Class 1A all-state teams after advancing to the state semifinals and finishing with a 16-4 record.
Seniors Jack Hoover and Eddie Petersen were both first-team selections in 1A and senior Quinn Warren was a second-team pick.
Hoover had 17 goals and led the Regals with 12 assists while Petersen had nine goals and five assists.
Warren had a team-high 17 goals and ranked second on the team with nine assists from his midfield spot.
West Branch had four all-state selections following the most successful season in program history.
The Bears went 18-1 and advanced to the state tournament for the second consecutive season.
Senior Trenton Schutte was a first-team pick in Class 1A while senior Cameron Gingerich and juniors Christian Scire and Tim Hosier were named to the 2A second team.
Schutte had 12 goals and a team-high 21 assists while Scire ranked second on the team with 25 goals to go with 12 assists.
Gingerich had five goals and was second on the team with 14 assists while Hosier had two goals and two assists from his defender position.
Liberty High and Clear Creek Amana each had players earn all-state honors in Class 3A
Liberty High senior Flori Gembo was a first-team selection in Class 3A after leading the Lightning with 14 goals and nine assists.
Clear Creek Amana junior Abdala Ebdala was an honorable mention selection in Class 3A after leading Clear Creek Amana with 15 goals and adding four assists.
