City High’s Palmer Commits to Minnesota State

One of the top scorers in the state and one of the top players in the area committed to one of the best Division II programs in the country.
City High senior August Palmer announced her commitment to defending Division II national champion Minnesota State on Saturday with a post on social media.
“Super excited to announce my commitment to Minnesota State,” Palmer wrote on X.
Palmer has ranked in the top 20 in Class 5A in scoring in each of her two seasons at City High.
As a sophomore Palmer ranked 11th in 5A with 18.5 points per game and last season averaged 14.5 points per game to rank 18th in 5A in scoring.
Palmer scored in double figures in 18 of 23 games last season and had 20 or more points six times while helping City High to an 8-15 record.
The 5-foot-10 guard earned first-team all-Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division honors after leading City High in scoring, assists and steals.
Palmer averaged 5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game to go with her 14.5 points while shooting 36 percent from the field and 65 percent from the free throw line.
Minnesota state went 32-5 last season, winning its final 11 games on its way to the NCAA Division II title.
The Mavericks defeated Texas Woman’s University 89-73 in the NCAA Division II national title game.
