Baseball Roundup: Liberty High Splits With Class 3A Top-ranked Western Dubuque

Liberty High split a doubleheader with Class 3A top-ranked Western Dubuque on Wednesday in Dubuque dropping the opener 9-6 and winning the nightcap 10-0 in six innings.
With the doubleheader split Liberty High moved to 12-5 on the season while Western Dubuque is now 10-4.
The Bobcats scored nine runs in the second inning of the opener and held on for a 9-6 win.
Ryan Schmierer had two hits and drove in two runs for Liberty High in game one while Evan Schmierer had two hits including a double and scored two runs.
Liam Bender went 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice and Jackson Khampphilanouvong had a hit and drove in a run and Brayden Bell and Landon Peoples had a hit and scored a run.
Cooper Hughes earned the win in the nightcap allowing just three hits in six scoreless innings while walking striking out two without a walk.
Evan Schmierer went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Brayden Mayer went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Bender was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Khampphilanouvong had a hit and scored two runs.
Ryan Schmierer had a hit and drove in two runs and Dallas Miller scored twice.
