Class 3A seventh-ranked Solon swept a WAMAC East Division doubleheader from Marion on Monday winning a pair of one-run games over the Wolves in Solon.

Solon scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to win the opener 5-4 and held on for a 7-6 win in the nightcap to improve to 6-4 on the season with the sweep.

Marion dropped to 8-3.

Emerson Miller earned the win in relief in the opener, working a scoreless inning.

Laeni Hinkle allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking seven in six innings.

Maddyn Gates went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI while Avery Babbitt had a double and drove in a run.

Izzy Frees and Addie Miller each had hits and scored runs for the Spartans in the opener.

Frees, Addie Miller and Bailey Woolley all had two hits as Solon hammered 11 hits in the nightcap. Woolley had two RBI and scored a run and Addie Miller drove in a run and scored a run.

Emerson Miller had a hit and drove in two runs and Kayla Meseck doubled and drove in a run.

Zoey Grimm earned the win allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits while striking out one and walking four in 6 1/3 innings.
