West High Senior Wendy Named MVC Valley Division Player of the Year

West High seniors Kaleab Wendy and Jacob Gilliam earned Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division player of the year and keeper of the year honors to highlight a group of 10 Trojans honored when the conference released its postseason honors on Monday.
Wendy was named the Valley Division player of the year after scoring 14 goals and added eight assists.
Gilliam earned keeper of the year honors after making 71 saves and allowing just 12 goals in 23 matches while posting 11 shutouts.
Seniors Haider Nasr and Nathan Heenan and junior Daniel Fuentes joined Wendy on the Valley Division first team.
Funtes led West High with 24 goals and eight assists, Nasr had six goals and two assists and Heenan had an assist.
Juniors Liam Teghanemt, Christian Kim and Caden Crabtree were all named to the Valley Division second team.
Teghanemt had six goals and two assists while Crabtree and Kim each had three assists.
Seniors Ismail Mohamed and Meshaal Mohamed were both Valley Division honorable mention picks for West High.
City High had six players earn all-division honors in the Valley Division after a 12-4 season that included a trip to the 4A state tournament.
Juniors Jack Dancer and Jackson Nichols-Lindsey were both named to the Valley Division first team while juniors Jonah Bowen-Burt and Lucas Riley were each second-team selections.
Dancer ranked second on the team with seven goals while Riley had four goals and an assist and Bowen-Burt had two goals and an assist.
Juniors Alex Chappell and Tatum Born were each named to the Valley Division honorable mention team for City High.
Liberty High had seven players earn all-division honors in the Mississippi Division led by Flori Gembo, junior Conley Sundblad and sophomore Finn O’Toole who were all first-team picks.
Gembo led the Lightning with 14 goals and nine assists and O’Toole added two goals.
Sundblad made 48 saves and allowed 23 goals in 14 matches.
Sophomore Collin Weis and freshman Ben Johnson were each second-team picks.
Johnson had two goals and three assists for Liberty High.
Liberty High seniors Quinlan Lawrence and Dean Cho were both Mississippi Division honorable mention selections.
