Delaynie Luneckas
West Branch graduate and current Minnesota State sophomore forward was part of the Maverick squad that won the NCAA Division II national championship on Friday with an 89-73 win over Texas Woman’s University in the title game.
Minnesota State won its final 11 games of the season, winning the NSIC tournament and the NCAA Central regional before winning three straight NCAA tournament games to finish the season 32-5.
Luneckas had two points and a blocked shot in the national title game and an assist in a 70-68 semifinal win over Cal State San Marcos and had four rebounds in the Regional opener against Missouri Western.
Hilary Wilson
Solon graduate and current Des Moines Area Community College freshman Hilary Wilson had six hits including two doubles and two home runs helping the Bears to doubleheader sweeps of Hawkeye Community College and Iowa Central Community College on Friday and Saturday.
In the four games Wilson went 6-for-14 with five runs scored and eight RBI.
On the season Wilson is hitting a team-leading .559 with eight doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI helping DMACC to a 21-5 record.
Annie Gahan
Former Regina standout and current Northwest Missouri State junior Annie Gahan had a big day to help the Bearcats earn a doubleheader split with Emporia State on Saturday in Emporia, Kansas.
Gahan went 1-for-3 with a home run in a 7-3 loss in the opener and scored the tying run and drove in the go-ahead run in a 2-1 Northwester Missouri State win in the nightcap.
In the second game the junior shortstop was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and plated the winning run with a single to centerfield in the fourth inning.
On the season Gahan is batting .225 with a home run and nine RBI to help the Bearcats to a 17-19 record.
