City High and Liberty High opened the season as ranked teams.

Liberty High and City High boys appeared in the first set of girls soccer rankings released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union on Wednesday.

City High was 10-5 last season and opens the season No. 15 in the Class 3A rankings.

West Des Moines Valley is the top-ranked team in Class 3A followed by Waukee Northwest, Waukee, Ankeny and Johnston.

Coming off a 9-9 season a year ago that included a spot in the regional title game Liberty High is No. 11 in the first Class 2A rankings of the season.

Dallas Center-Grimes leads the 2A rankings followed by Waverly-Shell Rock, Pella, Norwalk and North Polk.

Des Moines Christian is number one in the Class 1A rankings.
