This season Callie Levin repeatedly etched her name into the Solon record book.
Last week at the state tournament Levin joined a select few players in Solon history to win a state title.
On Tuesday Levin added an accomplishment no Solon player before her had earned.
Levin was named Miss Iowa Basketball on Tuesday when the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association released its postseason awards becoming the first Solon player to earn the award.
Miss Iowa Basketball has been awarded to the top senior player in the state since 1981.
Before this season it had never been given to a Solon player.
Levin changed that on Tuesday, earning the prestigious award after leading Solon to a 24-3 season capped by a Class 3A title which was the first for the Spartans since 1998.
“We hadn’t done this in a while,” Levin said after winning the 3A title on Friday. “It had been since 1998 that was the last time and to be able to be in the books for Solon it means so much.”
A four-year starter and 1,000-point scorer that holds numerous Solon school records Levin earned all-state honors from the IPSWA for the fourth time this season.
Levin was a second-team all-state pick as a freshman and has been a first-team pick each of the past three season.
The Iowa recruit was at her best this season as a senior.
Levin was the only player in the state this season to average better than 20 points, four steals, four assists and six rebounds per game.
The 5-foot-9 Levin led Solon with 22 points, 4.8 steals, 4.5 assists and ranked second on the team with 6.9 rebounds per game.
Levin shot 43 percent from the floor including 37 percent from 3-point range and 77 percent from the free throw line.
“What can you say about her?,” Solon coach Jamie Smith said. “I’ve been around the kid for a long time and I’m still impressed by what she does.”
In three state-tournament wins Levin averaged 18.7 points, 5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals while lifting the Spartans to the 3A title.
That was capped by a 27-point, seven-rebound, five-assist performance in the 3A title game win over top-ranked Estherville-Lincoln Central.
Levin was joined on the Class 3A first team by senior Hailey Miller.
Miller earned first-team all-state honors for the first time after averaging 13.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
A Class 3A all-tournament team member each of the past two seasons, Miller shot 41 percent from the field this season and 71 percent from the free throw line.
Class 4A state champion Clear Creek Amana had three players earn all-state honors.
Senior forward Ava Locklear and sophomore guard Averie Lower were each named to the 4A first-team while senior Bliss Beck was a third-team pick after helping the Clippers to a perfect 26-0 record.
Locklear averaged a double-double posting 12.1 points and 10.7 rebounds and also led Clear Creek Amana with 4.2 assists and 2.1 blocked shots per game.
Locklear shot 47 percent from the floor and 72 percent from the free throw line this season and was named the captain of the Class 4A all-tournament team.
Lower earned first-team all-state honors for the first time following a breakthrough sophomore season in which she led Clear Creek Amana in scoring at 17.7 points per game to go with 5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.2 assists per contest.
The 5-foot-11 Lower led Class 4A in both 3-point percentage (49.7) and free throw percentage (86.1), ranked fourth in field goal percentage (58.2) and second in 3-pointers made with 89.
Beck averaged 7.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots per game for the Clippers and led Class 4A in field goal percentage shooting 64 percent from the floor.
Regina junior Morgan Miller earned first-team all-state honors in Class 2A after leading Regina to a 19-5 record and a spot in a 2A regional final.
A second-team selection in 2A last season as a sophomore ,Miller earned first-team honors for the first time in her career after leading the Regals in points (19.5), assists (3.8) and steals (3.9) and ranking third on the team with 4.9 rebounds per game.
West High sophomore Grace Fincham was named to the Class 5A third team following a breakthrough season in which she led the Trojans to a 13-10 record and a 5A regional title game appearance.
Fincham led West High 15.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting 53 percent from the floor.
