Girls Basketball Roundup: Late Rally Lifts Sixth-ranked Regina Past Maquoketa Valley in Regional Semifinal

It needed a furious rally in regulation and few extra minutes but Regina is moving on.
Class 2A sixth-ranked Regina scored five points in the final 10 seconds of regulation and outscored Maquoketa Valley 11-3 in overtime on its way to a 61-53 win in a Class 2A, Region 4 semifinal on Friday in Iowa City.
Regina improved to 19-4 on the season with its fifth win in a row and will face No. 11 Cascade (16-6) in the Region 4 tile game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School.
Maquoketa Valley closed the season 14-9.

Maquoketa Valley led 28-19 at the half, 38-35 after three quarters and 50-45 with 10 seconds remaining.
Morgan Miller hit a 3-pointer to cut the and following a Maquoketa Valley turnover Caitlin Martin tied the game with two seconds remaining to force overtime.
Miller led Regina with 23 points, six rebounds and five assists and Alli Clark had 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
Martin had 11 points and two steals and Ella McLaughlin had seven points, four rebounds and two assists for Regina.
