Trent Hoogerwerf
Former Regina standout and current Mount Mercy senior catcher Trent Hoogerwerf went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run in a 12-5 season-opening win over Mount Marty on Friday in Omaha, Nebraska.
Hoogerwerf also drew a walk and scored twice in the eight-inning Mustang win in the first game of a four-game series.
On the weekend, Hoogerwerf went 4-for-9 with two doubles, a home run, three RBI and two walks as the Mustangs went 1-3 in the series.
Aubrey Joens
Former City High standout and current Oklahoma senior guard Aubrey Joens had eight points and six rebounds in an 86-72 win at Iowa State on Saturday.
On the season Joens is averaging 8.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while helping the Sooners to a 17-6 record including an 11-1 mark in Big 12 conference play.
Casey Ogden
Clear Creek Amana graduate and current Peru State freshman pitcher Casey Ogden tossed six strong innings to help the Bobcats pick up a 4-2 win over Hastings College on Friday in Parkville, Missouri.
Ogden allowed two runs on five hits in six innings striking out nine and walking five while earning his first win.
Peru State is off to a 1-6 start this season.
