Last month a pair of Liberty High standouts announced they would start their college football careers at Iowa Western as quarterback Graham Beckman and linebacker Gavin Benton both gave commitments to the two-time national champion Reivers.
This weekend another Liberty High all-stater gave a pledge to Iowa Western.
Senior defensive lineman Dantrell Skinner announced his commitment to Iowa Western on Saturday with a post on social media.
“Excited to announce my commitment to Iowa Western,” Skinner wrote on X.
Skinner burst onto the scene as a junior in 2022 earning second-team Class 4A all-state honors after ranking fifth on the team with 39 tackles including a team-high nine tackles for loss.
The 6-foot, 220-pounder Skinner followed up that breakthrough junior season with an even better senior campaign.
Skinner established himself as one of the top defensive linemen in Class 5A posting career highs in both tackles for loss and sacks while helping the Lightning to 4-5 record.
An impressive athlete, Skinner ranked third on the team with 38.5 tackles from his defensive end spot at led Liberty High with 18.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
Iowa Western won its second consecutive NJCAA D1 National title in December defeating East Mississippi 61-14 in the title game.
The Reivers have gone 32-4 over the past three seasons while appearing in the NJCAA title game all three seasons.
