City High came up one win short of a trip to the state dual meet falling to top-ranked Southeast Polk 66-15 in the finals of a Class 3A regional dual on Tuesday at Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill.

Class 3A No. 16 City High defeated No. 17 Norwalk 45-23 in the opening round on Tuesday to advance to the title match against the Rams.

City High won nine matches in the victory over Norwalk earning bonus points in seven victories.

Tegan Jones won by fall at 106 pounds, Chris Davis won by fall at 126, Kael Kurtz had a second-period pin at 138, Kael Voinovich added a pin at 157 and Raphael Etuma won by pin at 190 for the Little Hawks.

Kendall Kurtz won a 12-4 major decision at 120 pounds, Cale Seaton won a 26-11 tech fall at 132 and Jack Mitchell won by decision at 144 and Trey Dervrich won by decision at 285 pounds.

In the loss to top-ranked Southeast Polk, Seaton, Kurtz and Voinovich recorded wins for City High.

Top-ranked Seaton pinned fifth-ranked Justis Jesuroga in 3:40 at 132 pounds and top-ranked Voinovich pinned Easton Biladeau in 1:27 at 157 pounds.

Third-ranked Kurtz won a 5-2 decision over sixth-ranked Wil Oberbroeckling at 138 pounds.
