West High sent one wrestler to the inaugural girls state tournament last February.

The Trojans will be sending three times that number to Xtream Arena in Coralville next week.

West High had three wrestlers secure state tournament spots on Friday in a strong showing at the Region 4 qualifier at HyVee Hall in Des Moines.

Senior Helen Orszula, junior Trinity Myers and freshman Peyten Van Dyke all secured state tournament berths with top-four finishes on Friday.

Meyers (20-13) led the way for West High with a runner-up finish at 120 pounds.

Meyers posted three consecutive pins to reach the 120-pound title match where she dropped a 2-1 decision to Izzy Duncan of Raccoon River-Northwest.

Van Dyke (23-10) finished third at 145 pounds, bouncing back from a loss to tenth-ranked Haley Glade of Earlham in the semifinals with back-to-back consolation wins to cap a 4-1 performance.

Van Dyke pinned Lillian Fischer of West Marshall in 1:42 in the consolation semifinals and needed 93 seconds to pin Alexis Steele of Southeast Polk in the third-place match.

Orszula secured her trip to state with a fourth-place finish at 125 pounds.

The senior won three consecutive consolation matches following a quarterfinal loss to sixth-ranked Calista Rodish of Raccoon River-Northwest.

Orszula (26-15) won a 6-5 decision over Arlo Steck of Colfax-Mingo in the consolation semifinals to secure the trip to state.

West High finished 12^th in the team standings with 70 points while Raccoon River-Northwest won the team title with 269 points.

Southeast Polk was runner-up with 251 followed by West Marshall with 188.5 and West Des Moines Valley with 161.
