The most recent win for Regina in an already impressive winning streak is the best win yet for the surging Regals.
Regina pushed its winning streak to an even dozen on Saturday with a 58-55 win over Class 2A third-ranked and previously unbeaten Monticello at the River Valley Conference Shootout at Maquoketa High School.
Eddie Petersen hit the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired as Regina improved to 12-2 on the season with its 12th consecutive win.
The loss snapped an 11-game winning streak for Monticello (11-1) to start the season and stopped a 15-game regular season winning streak for the Panthers that stretched back to January 24 of 2023.
Regina became the first River Valley Conference South Division team to defeat Monticello since Mid-Prairie beat the Panthers 65-50 on February 11 of 2022.
Michael Martin had 18 points to lead Regina while freshman Tate Wallace had 16 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Regals.
Petersen had 14 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals and was 4-of-7 from 3-point range including the game winner.
Regina shot 58 percent from the floor in the win, including 7-of-14 from 3-point range and had 12 assists.
Andrew Greve had six points and five rebounds for the Regals and Will Litton had four points, three assists and three steals.
