Liberty High closed the 2023 section of its schedule with a 48-27 win over City High on Thursday in a Mississippi Valley Conference dual win in North Liberty.

The Lightning got pins from Karen Ndombasi, Kaitlyn Raue and Kensi Steele while winning three of the five contested matches.

Ndombasi pinned Nina Yankey in 2:47 at 120 pounds and Raue followed with a first-period pin of Quinn Price at 125.

Steele added a first-period pin of Molly Carlson at 170 pounds.

City High got wins from Eliza Mitchell and Martha Willard.

Mitchell pinned Olive Miller in 2:51 at 110 pounds and Willard won an 8-5 decision over Ruth Luyeye at 115 pounds.
