Kara VeDepo won an individual title to help Solon to a 10^th place team finish at the 23-team Williamsburg Girls Invitational on Monday at Williamsburg High School.

VeDepo went 2-0 on her way to the 105-pound title, pinning Valeria Torres of East Butler in 5:26 in the championship match.

The title from VeDepo helped Solon rack up 87 team points which matched Marion.

East Buchanan had six finalists and crowned two champions while winning the team title with 186 points.

Independence was runner-up with 177 and South Tama was third with 135.5 followed by Ottumwa with 128 and Fort Madison and Vinton-Shellsburg each with 117.

Liberty High got a runner-up finish from Evelyn Eggleston at 140 pounds and finished 12^th with 73 points while Clear Creek Amana was 19^th with 36 points.

VeDepo led Solon with her title at 105 while teammate Tess Richards finished fourth at 110, Avery Kellen was fifth at 190, Kate Richards was seventh at 115 and Alexis Anderson placed eighth at 135.

Eggleston went 2-1 on her way to a runner-up finish at 140 pounds, falling to Lizzy Wolf of Benton Community in the championship match.

Taylor Cavanh was third at 100 pounds for the Lightning, Harper Johnson was sixth at 130 pounds, Kensie Steele was fifth at 170 and Abigail Carr was seventh at 235.

Halle Bormann led Clear Creek Amana with a fourth-place finish at 135 pounds while Marlie McBride was fifth at 115 and Jordan Hunt was sixth at 190 pounds.
