In a few months Cale Seaton will attempt to add a second state title to his prep wrestling resume.
Before beginning his quest for a second consecutive state title the City High senior settled his plans for his wrestling future.
Seaton announced his commitment to South Dakota State on Tuesday with a post on social media.
“I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at South Dakota State University,” Seaton wrote in Instagram. “Go Jackrabbits.”
A three-time state medalist, Seaton has a 95-9 career record and is coming off the best season of his career when he won the 126-pound title at the Class 3A state meet last February.
Seaton went 16-2 and finished third at the state meet at 113 pounds as a freshman in 2021.
As a sophomore Seaton went 42-3 while finishing third at the 3A state meet at 120 pounds setting City High single season records for takedowns and match points along the way.
Last season Seaton overcame a serious knee injury in January to win his first state title.
