West Branch dropped a non-conference dual meet to Davenport Assumption 35-33 on Monday in the season opener for both teams in West Branch.

The Bears won five of the 12 contested matches on Monday with Auron Marsh, Cale Seydel, Gooper Gates and Logan Wright all posting first-period pins for West Branch.

Marsh pinned Brock Lansing in 1:32 at 144 pounds and Seydel needed 47 seconds to pin Owen Herman at 157 pounds.

Gates pinned Gauge Bowman in 1:39 at 165 pounds and Wright pinned Jordyn Allen in 1:54 at 285.

Quintyn Rocha added a 6-3 win over Rhett Schaefer at 215 pounds and Ethan Humphrey won by forfeit at 106 for the Bears.
