State Semifinalist Solon Has Seven Players Named to IPSWA Class 3A All-State Team

An impressive season for Solon that included 10 wins and a second trip to the Class 3A state semifinals in the past three seasons ended earlier this month with a loss to eventual champion Williamsburg.
On Tuesday the Spartans were rewarded for their success with a sizeable haul of postseason honors.
Solon had seven players named to the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association 3A all-state team on Tuesday when the organization released its postseason awards.
Seniors Brett White, Jack McCarty and Ben Kampman were all first-team selections on the 3A defense while seniors Brayden Moore and Barret Schade and juniors Cole Carney and Grant Wilson earned second-team all-state honors.
White headlines the list of Solon all-state selections earning all-state honors at linebacker for the third consecutive season.
The 6-foot, 210-pound White earned second-team all-state honors as a sophomore in 2021 before earning a spot on the 3A first-team each of the past two seasons.
White led Solon in tackles each of the past three seasons from his inside linebacker spot and posted a career-high 106 total tackles in 12 games this season.
The 106 tackles by White ranked seventh in the state and third in 3A and his career-high 25 tackles for loss this season ranked eighth in the state and second in 3A.
White also had a career-high five sacks this season and forced three fumbles.
Over the past three seasons White amassed 277 tackles including 191 solo stops, 13 sacks and 54.5 tackles for loss.
Kampman and McCarty each joined White on the Class 3A first team defense.
McCarty was a first-team selection at defensive back after ranking third on the team with 40 tackles including three for loss.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound McCarty also had an interception.
Kampman earned first-team all-state honors for the second year in a row earning a first-team spot as a defensive utility player.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Kampman ranked fifth on the team with 33 tackles from his defensive end spot.
Kampman was second on the team with 14.5 tackles for loss and led Solon with 8.5 sacks.
Wilson, Carney, Schade and Moore were all named to the 3A second team.
Wilson (5-10, 235) was a second-team selection as an offensive linemen after the junior center helped the Spartans rush for better than 160 yards per game.
Schade was a second-team pick as a linebacker after ranking fourth on the team with 36.5 tackles.
The 5-10, 195-pound Schade had eight tackles for loss and recovered two fumbles returning one for a touchdown.
Carney (5-9, 175) earned second team honors as defensive back after making 22.5 tackles with 3.5 for loss and intercepting two passes.
Moore was a second-team defensive utility selection following a season in which he ranked second on the team behind white with 45 tackles from is linebacker spot.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Moore had 8.5 tackles for loss and a sack.
